  1. Minor league contracts. Sign as many as possible. If Clay can give us a handful of quality starts, I'll take it. To state the obvious, we need depth. BADLY
  2. Another person that you just don't joke about in this manner. You just don't.
  3. You are right that nothing has been confirmed, but it sure doesn't sound good. I am curious to what direction Henry will take though. Would he throw in the towel, have a full fire sale, and go for a full rebuild? I just can't see that happening. He and Bloom may surprise us by acquiring some unexpected, decent starting pitching. Maybe it's wishful thinking.
  4. I would expect nothing less.
  5. This will be the first season in the John Henry era that I am entering the season feeling like we don't have a realistic shot at the playoffs. Even in the 3 years that we finished in last place, I thought the talent on the team was good enough for us to make the playoffs. Things can still change, and I will remain hopeful, as always, but it's not looking good for the good guys.
  6. Before the news of Sale's injury, I would have selected 87-92. I am now thinking just over the .500 mark. I chose 81-86. Also, thanks to MVP for starting this thread, fully equipped with a poll. This is why you are the MVP.
  7. We could have survived without Mookie. Losing Price made if more difficult, but I was confident that Bloom would acquires some more starting pitching. We cannot survive without Sale this year, short of a miracle occurring.
  8. Like the Yankees, the Sox are now toast before the season even starts. The Devil Rays are living large.
  9. Seriously. It is time for a Clay Buchholz signing.
  10. No, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything's dead. That said, Sale's possible season ending injury puts a whole different spin on things.
  11. Why even bother running the bases? The ump can give the home run signal and the batter can go straight back to the dugout.
  12. Trot's dirt doggedness was the very reason why JD Drew's defense was so underappreciated.
  13. Not necessarily dead yet.
  14. I know it's only ST and Rusney knows he's not making the majors this year, but I have a hard time excusing lack of hustle.
  15. I read that he did not run out a ball that went to the LF wall. He should have made it to 3rd, but only got to 2nd.
  16. I was fine with Eovaldi's contract as well. I was also fine with Sale's extension. If those two can stay healthy, and that is a big if, then their contracts would likely end up being very good deals.
  17. Very small sample, but Eovaldi has looked very good so far this spring. With both him and Sale, it's a matter of being able to stay healthy.
  18. I know it won't happen, but the owners should give some of that money back to the fans by way of lower ticket prices. I'm not trying to defend greedy owners. However, as an owner, Henry has spent plenty on payroll.
  19. I am neither a poll nor a thread starter. I nominate you.
  20. Obviously, it is. And that's very disheartening.
  21. On this, we agree 100%.
  22. Most of us agree that Mookie is already financially secure before even reaching free agency.
  23. I get that. I'm not asking any of the players to play for free. But how much money does a player need to make to give themselves and their families financial security? Seriously, is $300 million not enough?
