I don't think SD would do that. They really want to cut salary. My understanding is that they're willing to take just about any random prospect in return for Myers and Quantrill just to get some of Myers' salary off the books.

I agree that Bloom should be signing pitchers to minor league contracts. As many as he realistically can. I'm not sure why he hasn't yet, but maybe he has bigger plans up his sleeve? If not, this will be a criticism that I will carry all season.

I would have never done the Kimbrel deal. Also, I thought the trade for Sale was overkill. Yes, I know I am in a very small minority with those opinions.

Lucroy once had a reputation for being one of the best defensive catchers. I haven't really paid much attention to him lately, but he's a guy who could really benefit our pitchers. Also, I read that he recently has surgery of some kind, and he could possibly provide some nice offense for a back up catcher.

I have nothing against the Dodgers, and would likely even root for them once the Sox are out of it, but I really hope they don't win the WS this year (unless they're playing against the Yankees). That is something that we would never hear the end of.

The Sox need some catching depth, no? I like the deal. Yes, we still need pitching, but this deal does not prohibit the other from happening.

I don't think the deal gets done if SD doesn't pay approximately 50% of his contract.

I'm guessing if a deal like this gets done, the Sox would be optimistic that they could fix Myers. But the bottom line is that we need the pitching. If Myers bounces back, that's an icing on the cake.

I feel like there is a lot of hypocrisy going on with these players from other teams. I don't believe for a second that sign stealing isn't a baseball wide problem. The Astros were more brazen about it than other teams, plus their sign stealing resulted in a WS Championship, so I can see why they are getting the negative attention that they are. But with that said, I have a difficult time with these other teams and players acting like they are completely innocent.

I am very happy with Henry's ownership on the whole. IMO, he has put a competitive team on the field every year since taking over ownership. As a fan, I really can't ask for more than that.

It's not necessarily any one trade that I have an issue with, it's the magnitude of the prospects traded away. Personally, I am okay with the Sale extension.

100% agree. Henry tends to overreact, or panic, as some would say.

It could also be argued that Bloom did better than many expected.

Definitely keep him. If Chris Sale becomes Chris Sale again, he will be a bargain.

I thought it made a lot of sense to keep Mookie this year and reset next year. That said, it also makes a lot of sense to do what the Sox did. Either way, I agree about not signing Mookie to a ridiculous long term dea.

I was not at all happy with the Dombrowski move, but obviously, I'll take the WS Championship. We need starting pitching depth. But I, too, am optimistic about this season.
