  1. It was so much better when the stadiums were not named after corporate sponsors. I wonder if they could somehow still advertise the "home team's" corporate sponsor when playing in those neutral locations. Give Minute Maid its spotlight when the Astros play as the home team.
  2. That would work too, I suppose. Any way they could limit the travel would seem helpful.
  3. I personally think that having all the teams play in AZ is the way to go. It would make things so much easier and, IMO, safer.
  4. It's not worth it if it isn't safe for those involved. It's also not worth it if MLB will be taking valuable resources away from others who need them more and don't have them. Outside of that, yes, I think it's worth it.
  5. None of us knows for sure what will end up happening with Cora, but my gut feeling tells me that he would be happy to return to Boston, and that he would return even if Boston is not the highest bidder.
  6. He absolutely deserves another chance. I hope it is with Boston.
  7. I notice that some of the items use the words "should" or "are encouraged to", suggesting that they are not mandatory. It will be interesting to see whether players actually abide by those guidelines that aren't required.
  8. In case anyone hasn't seen this, here are the key proposals that MLB has in place for the safety of players and all involved. It seems like they've thought of pretty much everything. Here's the link to the WEEI article: https://weei.radio.com/blogs/rob-bradford/coronavirus-details-regarding-mlbs-67-page-plan-to-return - Regular testing for players, umpires, coaches, managers and essential staff. - The majority of tests will be saliva-based. - Players will be tested upon arrival at spring training and then quarantined for 24-48 hours until the results are determined. - Each club must maintain a designated testing area at each facility. - Each individual will conduct daily self-checks at home, which will include thermometer readings. - Before entering each facility each participant will undergo a temperature check while filling out an exposure questionnaire. - Clubs will be allowed 50 players for spring training. - Workouts will be staggered throughout the day to limit overcrowding. - Spring training games in Florida and Arizona will be held between 7-9 p.m. - Communal water and sports drink coolers/jugs are prohibited. Only personal water or individually prepared sports drink bottles or contactless water dispensers with disposable cups or should be used. - No spitting, using smokeless tobacco or sunflower seeds in restricted areas. Spitting is prohibited. - Players/on-field personnel are encouraged to sanitize their hands after each half-inning. - Lockers should be six feet apart. - Showering at the facilities is discouraged. - Hitters are encouraged to use batting gloves and batting practice pitchers should wear masks. - Pitchers will use a personal set of baseballs when throwing bullpen sessions. - Meals must be distributed in packaged/takeout form. - There will be no exchange of lineup cards, with the lineups instead being logged into an app. - Non-playing personnel must wear masks at all times. - Members of the traveling party are not to leave the hotel unless they receive advance approval from team personnel. The only people permitted to visit players’ rooms are immediate family members. Socializing with other family members or friends is discouraged, but not entirely prohibited. - On the road, the players should essentially isolate at hotels, with precautions such as a prohibition on buffet-style meals in place. Luggage will be sent directly to players’ rooms to avoid extra touchpoints, and players will not need to return a key or visit the front desk upon check out. Meal money should be delivered to players in a form other than cash.
  9. Bloom and Cora are playing it cool. I bet Cora comes back next season.
  10. I am not singling you out, because others are also guilty of making political posts where they don't belong. But politics has been a long standing no-no on this forum, until we recently allowed the political coronavirus thread. You can post whatever you would like, but why not at least take it to the political coronavirus thread? Anything goes there, and I'm sure they would love to have you join the discussions.
  11. My bad. I misunderstood your post.
  12. LOL Bell. No kidding. Every topic somehow seems to turn political!
  13. Your question really doesn't have anything to do with the debate.
  14. Here's something else that doesn't sit well with me. Manfred said that players would be tested 3 times per week and that they would get results in 24 hours. We still don't have enough tests for the general population, so how is MLB able to get that many tests? Is testing players that often taking away from the general population and their safety? I want baseball back as much as anyone, but not if it's going to require using a resource that is in short supply.
  15. I mostly agree with this.
  16. FTR, I am not siding with the bosses. I am not siding with either side. The owners are equally to blame here, but that doesn't excuse the players from being so unplugged from reality. What both sides should be saying is that they would really like to see the return of baseball because it would be good for the people, that the safety of everyone involved is their top priority, and that they are confident that there will be a resolution. And leave it at that.
  17. OK, that's three posts in a row that really don't have anything to do with the issue at hand. Non sequitur, as you guys enjoy saying.
  18. I don't know, but I absolutely love Amazon.
  19. Not sure what that has to do with baseball. Bezos should give all of his Amazon everyday employees significant raises and bonuses. In a battle between everyday working class people and a billionaire CEO, I'm siding with the working class people.
  20. Well dang. This just might be enough to make me become a golf fan. Seriously.
  21. Post of the Day! Donate all the money to people who need it!
  22. I hope he does sit out. I'm sure someone else is willing to take his place.
  23. I don't feel sorry for the owners either. I just have a low tolerance for the rich and the famous acting so greedy and entitled. Even more so when the world is fighting a pandemic.
  24. That's fine, but believe me, many seniors do. And they care about missing out on marching in a graduation ceremony, and about all of the other things that go along with senior year.
