  1. Then I would have to tell myself to stop, and why would I do that?
  2. Stop. What are you even talking about?
  3. Pete Abraham @PeteAbe · 1h #RedSox announced these minor league cuts: A little context on these cuts. Many of these, if not all, would have happened in spring training before transactions were frozen. But the owners should be paying the employees that they furloughed. They can afford to do so.
  4. Fair enough that he wasn't trying to get in a war. His comments still come across as being disconnected from the realities of what many people are going through, IMO.
  5. Because I haven't seen any tweets or posts from specific owners, just general statements from MLB that they are losing money. I would criticize similar statements from owners just as much.
  6. Of course he's entitled to respond. He's only going to make himself more of a target, however. Professional athletes, celebrities, etc. getting into a social media war with 'regular people' usually doesn't end well for the athletes and celebrities.
  7. Chad Finn @GlobeChadFinn 33m RT @Buster_ESPN: This is great that David Price has reportedly stepped up to help others, and not surprising given his history of charity. https://t.co/LkZcX6DggG It's also embarrassing for the owners who have directed firings and furloughs and 401K cuts, while bearing much more wealth than David ^^100% Shame on the owners.
  8. That doesn't say I'm siding with the owners. That says that the players are whining. The owners are handling this equally as bad. Again, I'm not happy with either side right now.
  9. @FrancysRomero10 · 5h Sources: David Price will pay out of his money $ 1,000 during the month of June to each minor league player in Dodgers system (40-man roster not included) according to multiple sources. Beautiful act if we count that Price hasn't played yet in MLB with @Dodgers . RESPECT. This is what I'm talking about. Well done David.
  10. Show me one post that says I'm siding with the owners.
  11. And as we've said, we have more compassion for those players than we do for the millionaires. They are not the ones who are complaining.
  12. Maybe I'm being a little harsh, but I have no sympathy for millionaires who complain about money and complain about how tough they have it or how much they have had to sacrifice. It comes across as so entitled and greedy. I'm sure that it bothers me 1000 times more during this pandemic. What the players are dealing with doesn't even come close to what so many people have to deal with. What I'm dealing with on my teacher's salary doesn't even come close to what so many people have to deal with. Stop complaining, at least publicly.
  13. I do not disagree. The owners are just as guilty as the players are. Neither side is handling this well.
  14. Oddly enough, the players that I hear complaining are the multimillionaires. I have a lot more compassion for the guys 'only' making $560K. As I've said many times, take the money and pay the employees that are being furloughed. Or donate it to charity. That would make me happy.
  15. This I can agree with.
  16. Are television actors and musicians whining about not getting paid enough money during this pandemic?
  17. As I'm reading this, all I can hear is waaaaa, waaaaa, waaaaa! Most of the working class people, and probably all of the people who lost their livelihoods during this pandemic, don't want to hear any millionaire complaining about money from the comfort of his or her luxury home. The front line workers don't want to hear about the 'sacrifices' that these guys have had to made. Here's the thing. If the players are that afraid of risking their lives by playing, they don't have to play. They'll still be able to eat, feed their families, and pay their bills. Most people don't have that luxury. If the offer is that upsetting to you, then don't play. If they're that unhappy with the offer from the owners, that's their right. But shut the heck up about it on social media and with the press. And shame on the owners for fighting this out in the media as well.
  18. I completely agree Dewey. I have said that I don't really care who gets the money between the owners and the players. None of them really need it. What doesn't sit well with me is how they come across as being completely unplugged from what is happening to so many people during this pandemic. There are people who literally cannot feed their children, there are workers making minimum wage who are sleeping in their garages for fear of infecting their families, and the list goes on, and these guys are complaining about making only $2.5 mil for 4 months of work. Give me a break. People need the return of sports to help them feel some sense of normalcy and renewed hope. Don't screw this up baseball.
  19. No, it doesn't sound like a deal is close, but I would be surprised if the two sides don't work something out. They both know how bad it will look if the season doesn't get played because of disagreements over money. Personally, I like the thinking that the players who make more are the ones who take the bigger hit. They can afford it. MLB's first proposal might be asking the players to give up too much (though I would not feel the least bit bad for Trout if he only makes $70K per game), but it is the first offer and this is a negotiation. The players need to make a reasonable counter offer and the owners need to make the compromise. Merloni said it best: Right now I don't like either side very much.
  20. Dustin Pedroia, Team Leader, Great Teammate Dustin Pedroia walked in, Boston Red Sox team meeting room went quiet; ‘That’s the epitome of how much everybody respects him’ https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2020/05/dustin-pedroia-walked-in-boston-red-sox-team-meeting-room-went-quiet-thats-the-epitome-of-how-much-everybody-respects-him.html
  21. Haha. There you go.
  22. We need Joe Kelly back.
