  1. I am sure there are a lot of MiLB players who would be more than willing to play.
  2. Not if they don't get paid and don't get service time.
  3. Yeah, that will be interesting. Thinking in terms of those of us who have 'regular' jobs, if our jobs reopened and we decided not to go back into our offices, what repercussions would we face? We'd probably be fired. I would guess that if a player doesn't play, he wouldn't get his salary or his service time for this year.
  4. Fortunately, it seem that both sides realize how bad it will look if the season does not get played because of money. They will work something out.
  5. I don't feel the least bit sorry for the owners. I don't feel sorry for the players either. I just don't like the way that some of the players have been coming across during a time when so many people have it 100 times worse than they do. As I have said before, BOTH sides need to compromise. Better yet, take all the money that is made this year and pay any MLB employees that have been furloughed and/or donate the money to the food banks. Neither the players nor the owners need it.
  6. Both sides need to compromise for the good of the fans, and for people in general.
  7. Glavine speaks the truth. I don't know how long lasting the damage would be, but failing to return to baseball because of disputes over money is a terrible look for both sides. By all accounts, the current discussions between owners and players over the health and safety issues are going very well. That is the priority. If they can hash those out on good terms and come to an agreement, then money should really become a non-issue.
  8. I am thinking that it might be to Mookie's advantage to sign a one year deal this off season, and see where things stand after next season. Or maybe sign a two year deal. Gammons said that it could take 3 years for the free agent market to rebound to where it was before the pandemic. I would gladly take Mookie back on that type of deal.
  9. I am sorry to hear that you are going through what you are going through. As Slasher said, remember not to take anything too personally, even if there were insults directed specifically towards you. You are a good young man, Thunder. Take care of yourself, and I hope that we see you back soon.
  10. I agree that the Astros are probably frustrated by being made an example of. I have no doubt that all teams are guilty of using technology to steal signs to some degree or another. I guess they took it too far, but that really doesn't make any of the other teams any less guilty.
  11. My apologies to you. I also don't know what you mean by still waiting on that retraction.
  12. Solid post 5GG.
  13. I will retract that comment.
  14. I know a middle class couple who spent over $1000 on their anniversary dinner at some restaurant in Vegas. I just cannot imagine.
  15. You are only kidding yourself if you don't think Springer participated in and benefited from the cheating. That makes him just as guilty as Cora. Here is one case: https://ftw.usatoday.com/2019/11/astros-sign-stealing-cheating-video-george-springer-home-run-mets
  16. Springer is just as guilty as Cora is. You are choosing to excuse Springer because you like him. Maybe he doesn't want to come back. We don't know. But I bet that there's a better chance that he wants to come back than there is that he doesn't want to come back.
  17. And yet you completely excuse Springer.
  18. As MVP pointed out, neither Cora nor Bloom are going to undermine Roenicke's position this year by stating their desire for a reunion.
  19. They could just ask Jacko. He could tell them the same thing.
  20. No, it's more than just wishful thinking. Now I'm not saying that it's definitely going to happen, but there are reasons to believe that there is a good chance that it does happen.
  21. Even better! It would be just like 'normal' times.
  22. MLB teams are considering putting ads in the empty seats during games.
  23. Cora had a good rapport with his players too. And what makes you think that Cora doesn't have a good rapport with Bloom? Cora and Bloom are more alike than Cora and Dombrowski are.
  24. ^^This.
  25. It was so much better when the stadiums were not named after corporate sponsors. I wonder if they could somehow still advertise the "home team's" corporate sponsor when playing in those neutral locations. Give Minute Maid its spotlight when the Astros play as the home team.
