  1. I'm not extending Mayer with that injury record. Anthony is a must.
  2. CLE and TBR should be selling where they are. Mariners getting stronger is not good news for us.
  3. First 3/4 innings with that bullpen... 😐
  4. Yeah I saw those quotes. I feel for the kid, too. As you say - it's got to be confusing and hard to deal with. I hope we trade him and he gets time somewhere, but he doesn't seem particularly in demand, either.
  5. Yup. We'll almost certainly be nibbling around the edges rather than doing anything huge.
  6. We are not at the same evolution of competing. Season or two's time hopefully we will be far ahead of them.
  7. The Phillies are building on a team that is very much in win now mode and has been deep into the play offs 3 years running as well as a WS appearance. We were building on nothing. It takes time, and moves that might suit a team as talented as the Phillies aren't necessarily what we need right now when we're just coming to the start of our window, or should be doing with our prospect capital. Duran would have been great. I think we'll be doing small ball stuff and looking to do the big stuff in the off season again.
  8. Because the Sox and the Phillies are in the exact same position.
  9. Hard to argue with any of this, but if they're thinking of moving Duran (or Abreu) in the off season, you hold onto The Password for now. Let Refsnyder walk away, and have him as your 4th outfielder/DH.
  10. I just don't see us being able to get him. I'd love him and it would definitely put us in a place to nail down a post season spot (health assumed), but I think Twins are happy to keep him until the off season and reassess, which would mean us needing to blow them away. What would you offer for him out of interest?
  11. I listen to same Sox prospects podcast as MVP (I'm guessing) and you do get some more detailed tidbits on these podcasts. I think the pitching level in AAA has been the lowest it's been in a while so the stats can be a little misleading now as the pitching is so inferior to the MLB. So yeah, can be tricky to judge just looking at the stats at the moment. I still had high hopes for Blaze, though. I guess the fact they didn't bring him up shows, as Moon says, that they must see something every day they think isn't right, because God knows we need something at 1B. Links to the podcast on Spotify and YouTube if you ever fancy it -
  12. I (along with MVP) have been calling for the Blazer to come up, and a part of me feels like we will regret this trade. But, I have to admit, just as I thought Grissom was maybe worth another look, BJ was hitting the same poor pitching in AAA, so maybe they just see think he doesn't have it. Pity though. I wanted him up for that name alone.
  13. We should not be doing anything close to emptying the farm in deals that involve Cease.
  14. I'd move Mayer in the right trade and not lose a wink of sleep over it. And I really like the kid.
  15. Yankees get Austin Slater. They're making a few fringy moves. Righty Gage Ziehl (NYY 18th ranked prospect) going the other way.
  16. You also, absolutely cannot resist posting in reply about him. For someone who keeps telling people to let it go, you're not doing the best job yourself.
  17. Oh I've accepted that's all we're getting. And I will complain about it for months, especially if he gets hurt or goes off the boil.
  18. You definitely go internal. Get another half-decent pen arm to fill the taken void.
  19. It really wouldn't, and it wouldn't be risking his job. But yes, almost certainly not happening, sadly.
  20. This was always going to happen. Every year a player plays above his career average and people get fooled into thinking it'll last. I'd like Jordan to get a chance to show what he can do but there's more chance of me getting called up. I think we'll probably ride with the 1B situation. Pitching is where we will look I think. Apparently we're pestering the Twins at an annoying level. I don't see Duran going anywhere now, though, so I'm not sure what we're trading. The Rule 5 guys are not going to get it done.
  21. I'll say it until I'm blue in the face, but even if/when we buy, we should trade Chapman. It is too big an opportunity to pass up on.
