  1. I doubt we're sending Rafaela anywhere either.
  2. When did this blood feud between you and Moon start?
  3. I don't think you'll have to worry about that. I don't think Tolle or Early are going anywhere.
  4. I don't think I've ever seen one of your trade proposals and thought 'hmmm...that could work'.
  5. The Diamondbacks don't need outfielders?
  6. Yeah, we're not getting Marte for Bello. Not even close.
  7. And offer who? They want pitching. We have trade quite a lot of pitching away, I cant see them sending more.
  8. Amazing this needs to be pointed out. I think for some, unless another $300m contract is paid out, it hasn't been spent.
  9. I love it when people sate a total (and ludicrous) guess as fact. The idea that Henry is on the phone to Breslow saying - "don't forget now, you're not allowed to spend on a free agent." 😂
  10. I do not understand this argument Duran offers little value as a DH. He offers elite value on basepaths (as well as no small amount with the bat) and is great cover for two defensive positions in the outfield when we inevitably get injuries/players need a day off their feet. Whether that amount to the same as the value you'd get in a trade is another matter, but let's cut this he has little value as a DH nonsense. He would be hugely valuable at very little cost.
  11. I've thought for a while that if Duran is moved it would need to be for a 2nd or 3rd baseman. The only way I see it working for pitching, is if it is Duran and Bello for Ragans (or something similar). It would release a lot of money on the LT that would allow them to go and sign Bregman for $25m+. But otherwise it only really make sense to try and deal him for infield help. And that would likely need a 3rd team's involvement.
  12. But so what? I really don't know why people are making such a fuss of this. Really, who gives a s*** where from we add as long as we get better? I'd hoped we'd sign Alonso but prefer the Contreras move overall. Apart from that, nobody has gone that I'm devastated we missed out on. Fandom is so weird these day. Everything is a disaster. Even okay to good things.
  13. I do fault people for thinking that on times. We've been in the top 3 spenders in the league for the majority of his ownership. I've argued that there is context and reasons why he wanted to hold off the spending the last few 4/5 years - mostly through terrible and costly decision making. If we don't spend any more this winter I'll have problems with it myself, now that we're in entering the window. But I don't believe for one second we're done and believe we will spend more. And if being near $260m isn't enough for people, I don't know what to say to them, outside of - that certainly isn't cheap.
  14. Of course. But reality and realism have little to do with general fandom usually. It's all about emotion and with social media and forums self-fulfilling loops now, everyone gets to be an expert and ignorant at the same time. Let the good times roll.
  15. Whether you'll get answers I don't know, but I think there are many, many people that think that.
  16. That is quite the pay rise!
  17. Yeah the thought crossed my mind too, and even if he can't, the guy has plenty of experience - good for the younger guys to lean on him if needed.
  18. I've absolutely no issue with platoons, I think they're essential. But if you're turning Mayer into one, I'd rather trade him away and extract maximum value before losing value by having him hit only against righties. In short, I think he could be worth a lot more as a trade candidate than as a platoon player.
  19. He stands to gain plenty - he's got a fair bit still to work on in rounding out his hit tool. And he needs to prove his health. Him and Romy are a good platoon at 2nd. Very much less so at 3rd. I have stated several times I would trade Mayer when his value is still high over a platoon situation.
  20. Yeah, I can see him getting a couple of month in AAA at least. And as you say - it's what the kid needs.
  21. The early reports were they wanted Early AND Tolle, or at least one of them and more pitching. There was only one report about Mayer being involved - I brought it into the thread saying I would do it. But not with Tolle/Early added in. That report has been quoted a few times but not replicated with different sources. So how reliable it is I don't know. And then there's the rumour that the Rays offer of two starting pitchers wasn't enough to get it done. So regardless, it's not happening now.
  22. I don't think it was the consensus. It was a conversation based off the possibility of it that became the dominant conversation on here for two days. I think the consensus is that AZ want pitching. And a lot of it.
  23. And sign Suarez. And Tucker. Cheap bastards.
  24. I like that idea a lot. I just don't think the Mets will.
