  1. You're fooling nobody. You want to beat us end of. You're loving this news. And you can't be blamed for that.
  2. I can't see us releasing him. I hope he can get back to playing at a high level, but if not, if he retires it will be nice to drop that salary.
  3. I'm doubtful, too. I'd still be trying to make it happen though.
  4. If we could trade Pom and get back under I'd do it. I don't trust him as a starter or out of the pen in the play offs.
  5. How dare people question things.
  6. Like this trade. Fills a hole and improves us a great deal on infield D. One of the major issues the past two years is having a young team in the playoffs. A little bit of experience goes a long way in the post season.
  7. Yeah, I always think if we'd said to Lester, "Look lets come to an agreement now, but we are going nowhere this year, how about we trade you to a contender, you get to play playoff baseball and we get a great piece back. Then we sign you in the summer to the pre-agreed deal and we have a good go at it next year." he'd have been okay with it. We would have come out a winner in multiple ways. Next year, we get Cespedes and Lester. Or Lester and Procello. We really did shoot both our feet off and half our left leg with the way we handled it.
  8. One thing I will say is - I was DESPERATE for us to sign Scherzer over Price. That one still stings. Get him and keep Lester...oof!
  9. Yeah definitely. Decisions that seems strange to us will always have been made with a plethora of information we are not privy too. If fans remembered this, there'd be a lot less frothing at the mouth.
  10. Yeah agree with that too, things would be better if those guys were on the field performing, but regardless it's still thin. Let's hope we can fix that. The Chavis news was such a blow. That power surge doesn't loo so impressive now. Also pretty annoying that Pom has fallen off a cliff. If he performed this like he did last and we didn't re-sign him, we could have at least picked up the compensation pick.
  11. The all star break came at the absolute worst time for us.
  12. Yeah, especially with his numbers against the pitcher. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about and it settles down for Mitch.
  13. Yeah I agree with most of that. We will hopefully draft well and catch some good luck and rebuild it. But I am happy with the team we have right now. More than happy. I think he could have maybe traded one or two less prospects in his moves which would have allowed us to use them for other needs, but beggars can't be choosers. I don't think there's any point bringing up Chavis and Groome, though. Even with those, like you say, the farm is still a little bare at the moment.
  14. edit: Ignore...not sure what happened there....thought it was a double post but my old one went. Anyway...you got it ha!
  15. Moreland injured and unable to pinch hit last night. I'm sure, absolutely sure, people will learn the lesson here. Sure.
  16. Sure, but those aren't the things I mentioned. I was talking about timing. I don't know if he would have pulled the trigger, I don't have enough evidence to judge him on that assumption, but I do think it can be argued that at the time DD took over, the time to pull the trigger was very good with the young core of the team in place for several years and talent like Beni and Devers coming close to making the step up, too. Whether Ben would have pulled the trigger as well, I don't know, or really care. DD did and I love the team, even if I think he overpaid a player or two in some deals.
  17. But it could be argued at that time we didn't have the young core we do now that has this sustained amount of time to go for the titles. DD traded away prospects and brought up prospects for a very enticing mix at the right time. I'm not sure Ben had the same luxury of timing during those years.
  18. Yup, agreed. I wouldn't want, even if he came cheap in the summer.
  19. The farm has definitely been hammered. I don't see how that can be argued with. That said, while I think a few trades were overpay, they needed to be done. Ben left us with a brilliant farm but a team with many holes. Needs must.
  20. They need to crucify something. Sacred to enjoy the success. I can't remember the poster's names (one was D- something I think) but I've read some extraordinary things in the match threads from two posters. One said we needed to blow it all up and another has continually called the team dummies and not good enough. I mean at what point can you enjoy the success of a team if it isn't what they are doing now? Some people just see everything negative in life. That's got to be a grind.
  21. We don't need Harper.
  22. I'e gone to watch the Met's a few times since moving to NYC. Not to watch the Met's you understand...
  23. I don't think it can hurt. No matter what, we all love nostalgia right?!
