  1. Welcome to all the new posters. Now fetch me a beer Noob.
  2. LOL that anyone is still holding out hope for this guy based on a no-hitter that was thrown when George Bush was in office.
  3. Wow is the talk that Ferrell is that close to being canned surfacing this early? I can't see the games so don't have first hand knowledge. I did see him order an intentional walk with a man on third and 2 outs late in the game. Guy promptly stole second and was immediately in scoring position. We got out of the inning but that was a head scratcher.
  4. That artice should remove any ounce of sympathy for this clown.
  5. This is exactly how I feel as well. Poor Panda my ass, he brought all of this on himself. To show up like he did following his disasterous first year completely unapologetic did in fact show a total disrespect to the team, the fans and the game.
  6. Yeah I really like our future with all the young talent all over the field. If that means waiting a year I'm OK with that, I'd hate to see them trade away good young talent just to fill an immediate need.
  7. I am so done with The Clay Buchholz Experience. Team continues to hold out hope based on 2 good seasons in the last 8. He's never had a 200 inning season and only topped 170 innings 3 times. And he is our #2?
  8. It's a pretty low bar when 4 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings where he got away with a lot of bad pitches and was unable to keep the ball down is considered an outing fans are happy with. At this point I don't know how anyone could not be concerned with the starting pitching.
  9. Well so far it has played out as a lot of us had feared. Behind Price and possibly Rodríguez nothing but question marks. Frankly I don't trust any of them.
  10. Boy ain't that the truth. I have zero faith in Buch, that vanished years ago. I still believe ERod will fill the #2 spot very well when he gets back.
  11. Dogs? Let's start a dog thread. Cat lovers can bite me.* * One of our cats is on my lap as I typed this.
  12. He may be fat but he is money come World Series time. So all we do is sit him all year, win the pennant, then unleash the Panda. That's what I would do. 1. Panda sits 2. Sox go to World Series 3. Panda is MVP 4. Profit
  13. I was a skeptic too, then I remembered he was a shortstop. As long as he tries this may work after all. Now Panda? It appears that he just doesn't give a damn what people think of him.
  14. So what's the deal here, I can't edit a post before I have a certain number of posts? That's bad news, I can't type on this tablet worth a damn so you guys will see more typos.
  15. All were great, as I've always believed without a top closer it's prety hard to win a ring, but I'll go with Foulke for the reasons given earlier. He was put in more demanding spots. But obviously relief poitching is not always the closer. It seemed like they always had a guy in all 3 of their championship seasons who would relieve the starter with 2 on in the 6th and slam the door, then others would follow with the same results taking them to the closer.
  16. Exactly. People forgive fat, drunk and stupid if you hit .310.
  17. Dang forgot all about starting this thread. Thanks for the welcome, I plan on posting here more often this season. I'm a HUGE sports fan but to be honest the Sox are down my food chain a few notches. Ask me about the Redskins or Maryland Basketball and I can fill up a book. Not so much with the Sox by comparison. That's why this board is so helpful, especially when it comes to the prospects.
  18. As you can see by my username I've been a fan for a while. Living in MD my entire life has limited my ability to follow the team as closely as some of you. That's why boards like this are so helpful. I've been more of a lurker than a poster, here anyway, but I expect that to change this year.
  19. I'm surprised Hanley at first has not been discussed more. I'm not quite ready to say it won't be as bad as his year in left. Hell it could be worse given the number of chances a first baseman gets.
  20. Very sad to read this, guy was a year younger than I am. Before there was Big Papi that may have been the greatest play in Red Sox history. Al was wrong, it was bigger than Carlton Fisk because they were a strike from going home.
  21. I know right? I just can't see how he can be trusted to hold down the #2 spot. Personally I think E-Rod is their second best starter already.
  22. More like paid for by Miller Lite.
  23. Nice pull old man.
  24. Still don't understand posters claiming Ben was the architect of that last title team when virtually all the key players were in place when he took charge. He made some key additions but Lester was the horse, Ortiz had a slow pitch softball average in the WS, Pedroia, Elsbury etc were already there.
  25. Has there been any discussion on Jordan Zimmerman? I live near DC and have followed his career, he is a horse but not necessarily a lock down #1.
