  1. Yeah, it's not too crazy to think that he could either.
  2. There's already been quite a bit of discussion of this in the Mock Draft thread. http://www.talksox.com/forum/red-sox-minor-leagues/17144-2013-mock-draft-6.html I don't think there's any chance any of the college guys like Appel or Moran fall to the Sox. Kohl Stewart is probably the best talent that we could hope would fall to us. If he does not, I'd take Frazier. There have been some questions about Meadows' defense lately, and that was what set him apart from Frazier. The biggest knock on Frazier is his size, but he hits for more power than Meadows.
  3. Yeah, I think people expecting Lee to be available are jumping the gun. Anything could happen, but I'd be surprised if our offense is an issue. We're second in the majors with a .339 wOBA on the year and we've had a steady .339 wOBA in each month of the season. Lefties, we have struggled to hit a bit this year. But I don't think that will be an issue once Middlebrooks, Victorino and Gomes are healthy and see their splits against lefthanders revert towards their normal career trends. I also love Iglesias against lefthanders, he's killed them so far in the majors. Our pitching ranks slightly worse. Among AL teams, our pitching is 6th in WAR and 3rd in xFIP. Those are some pretty good numbers, so I hardly think it's time to panic. But the inconsistency we've seen lately from Lester and Dempster is concerning, and it's too early to tell what we'll get from Doubront. Then again, we have prospects that could fill holes on our pitching staff and in our lineup. Jackie Bradley Jr. could help stabilize the outfield, Jose Iglesias could help us hit lefthanders, Webster, De La Rosa or Ranaudo could fill a rotation spot. Our needs in July will probably have a lot to do with which one of those prospects pan out this year and which ones struggle. Or which one of our regulars has a serious injury.
  4. Yes, I would stand pat at this point too. I was talking about down the road if Lee was available in July, I would be willing to give up that price if he still made sense. Who knows what we'll look like in a couple months.
  5. Are there any other top of the rotation starters that you feel like we could acquire for less? Or are you suggesting we trade for a hitter or perhaps stand pat?
  6. I'll make plans for 10 o'clock.
  7. THANK YOU! We've been trying to bait you in to saying the Yankees were going to win for the last three days. Now that you've said they will, they're bound to lose. 100% wrong, 100% of the time.
  8. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/location.php?pitchSel=121250&game=gid_2013_05_31_bosmlb_nyamlb_1/&batterX=&innings=yyyyyyyyy&sp_type=1&s_type= Rivera strike zone.
  9. Eh, doesn't really bother me. Red Sox are still in first place.
  10. Virtually every prediction or observation I've read from this Jackass has turned out to be completely wrong. The Red Sox are peaking... Sabathia's sitting at 94 mph... Pedroia can't hit the inside pitch.
  11. http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/2684047/Pedroia-HR.gif Should I just assume that this point that you're wrong 100% of the time?
  12. His cutter's barely moving at all.
  13. You couldn't be more wrong. Pedroia murders inside pitches.
  14. Gift strike number two...
  15. There's gift strike number one...
  16. On the bright side, Mariano hasn't recorded an out in six days. On the not so bright side, he'll probably retire the side in less than 10 minutes.
  17. Teixeira looks like he's in mid-April form.
  18. I'm sure the strike zone will change drastically when Rivera comes in. Over/under - Rivera gets 1.5 "bonus" strike calls according to pitch f/x. I'm gonna go with over.
  19. Yup, definitely a strike. It feels different when you're up there as a hitter though, your strike zone can get screwy if the pitcher's throwing to both sides of the plate.
  20. This umpire's been all over the place. I don't think it's had a large influence on the game so far though. It's much more annoying when the bogus calls are strike threes with men on base.
  21. Sabathia's gotten off to slower starts than this before. But this year seems different with the 3 mph drop in velocity.
  22. That would have been a valid point under the former rules. It's completely different now with the spending limits. The players you mentioned sat out because they were more than $5 million apart on the signing bonuses. No one is playing in the minors over $2-3 million unless they're a real diva.
  23. Definitely a slider, he only throws two pitches.
