  1. I think that "rebuilding" takes different forms for different teams. Teams like the A's have to unload all their salary and obtain tons of draft picks. This can take years. But if you have as high a payroll as we have rebuilding means that you can still have a winning record but have to get rid of some contracts to really compete for a ring. Having that much money guarantees that you will always have some talent on your team, much more so than teams that have little money. I think we should obtain pitching pitching pitching. And that will be available at the end of the year. If we can get quality pitching for Youkilis or Beckett I would make that kind of trade.
  2. OK, its time for this nonsense to STOP. I plan on starting the next six game threads during our win streak. Its Freddy "The Vulnerable One" Garcia vs Felix Doubront, who is going ot pitch the game of his life tomorrow. Win this game and we still have a chance to win the series vs the Yankees. GO RED SOX!
  3. Yeah, but what do you really think....
  4. Yeah, his dugout seat. Game over. Someone should slip a stimulant into the morning coffee these guys drink. They look like zombies out there...dead.
  5. Sure would be nice to get Rivera's PC up so he can't pitch tomorrow.
  6. Didn't you refer to Thomas's product as bagels earlier too? Let do our homework here, eh? These things matter.
  7. On a positive note, Tazawa sure looked good out there. Especially compared to the guy he replaced.
  8. I admit that it was a roll of the dice. I would have preferred Bard in that role. Once Papelbon left they had a hole that needed filling. I didn't want Bailey in that role because I knew his injury history, but I wanted to give Papelbon his $$$$$$ contract even less.
  9. We didn't have that kind of money to spend this offseason. Besides, committing $50M for four years for a relief pitcher is insane. That never would have happened here, under Epstein or under anyone else. Not this year.
  10. Yup. I think he would have let Papelbon walk because Papelbon was after a max contract and he got one. I don't think we ever would have given him what the Phillies did, nor should we have. He is overpaid. Besides, we had a closer. Its no one's fault that he got hurt, is it?
  11. Probably because his bullpen stinks too.
  12. Ellsbury, you are a funny guy. Who do you think created this mess? Cherington and Valentine have been on the job less than four months. They haven't had time to screw us up that bad yet.
  13. Would be nice to see the Sox at least score a couple of runs and make this mildly interesting. They look dead out there.
  14. Of note: if we lose this game and tomorrow's game we will be exactly where we were after 14 games last year: 4-10. Except last year we had Papelbon and Bard in the pen.
