  1. In the end, someone has to take responsibility for this mess. IMO its a divided blame that I place on not only Cherington (for the reasons I mentioned and stand by), but also Lucchino and especially the owners who failed to complete the job of cleaning out the FO to make room for new blood. Cherington is not new blood, he is a disciple of the incompetent buffoon who dirtied the franchise then abandoned the mess to be fixed by someone else. There is plenty of blame to go around. Frankly, I am not sure this can be fixed until our current owners sell the team or hire someone competent to run it then stay the hell away.
  2. All Epstein signings. As I have been writing here until I want to puke, Epstein left this franchise with a task equivalent to shoveling out the Aegean Stables.
  3. OK..its the ASB now, and we are a mediocre 43-43 team, 10 games behind the Yankees. Seriously, isn't it time the FO issued an apology instead of excuses and started doing something positive for the franchise? Its now clear to everyone (I think) that we are going nowhere this year. So why not start taking out the trash?
  4. My guess is that its the beginning of Salty's collapse again. He did it last year too. Overworked, perhaps. I want to see Lavarnway called up.
  5. Who? Lester? Gonzales? Pedroia? Beckett? You have lots of choices. All of the above is an acceptable choice too.
  6. Again, since you quoted her, I will respond one more time. If he got this "right before the game started", there is not enough time to test him and confirm that this is THE FLU. In fact, this time of year most labs don't even test for the flu. People throw that term around all the time for various viruses. Its inaccurate. They used this term in the case of Gonzales with similar disregard of the facts. I don't really care what it is unless he has leprosy or something, he belongs on the field....with his team. Gutless.
  7. You suit up and do the best you can. Thats what real team players do. Football players play with much worse; most baseball players are soft. Gonzales just showed his true colors tonite. He doesn't give a s*** about his team.
  8. Since you quoted her I can see what she wrote ( I have her on ignore). Its highly likely that this is not the flu. This is JULY. Its NOT flu season. The chances of getting actual flu in this hemisphere in July is pretty close to zero. Its almost certainly a simply cold or perhaps intestinal "flu". Flu is a specific virus that occurs seasonally every year. July is not that season.
  9. Its not like he has to play again tomorrow, right? Seriously. I know that Mazz et al are going to be all over him because of that. Whatever, right? Does it really matter right now? IMO what matters is cleaning this sordid house and getting a decent team on the field in 2014 or 2015. For now, lets see guys like Kalish and Lavarnway and Ciriaco out there.
  10. Of the two, I agree that Beckett should go. Lester will be fine if you expect him to fill the role of a serviceable #3-4 SP. Not more.
  11. I can't tell you how disgusting it is to see Sweeney out there busting his hump after crashing into the wall and seeing Gonzales on the bench with a stuffy nose. Damn prima donna.
  12. They are simply not that talented. Not any more. Beckett has been very inconsistent for his entire time here, performing something like well every other year and horrible in the alternate year. Lester is falling off a cliff. Both should be traded IMO. Time to clean house.
