  1. I saw Henry and Werner in the stands today. I hope they were paying attention to the Nats and the way they have achieved a winning franchise through recognizing, obtaining, and retaining excellent pitching. If they cannot learn from this kind of game then we aren't going anywhere for years and years. Worse yet, the Sox sellout streak might be in jeopardy.
  2. Another loss...yawwwwwwwwwwwn Back below .500 where this team belongs. They absolutely define mediocrity. Good game thread today folks (for most of us anyway), though the result sucked. We are on a real roll now, aren't we.
  3. He is hurting the team. Its not about Pedroia; its about whats best for the team. And right now, a healthy Pedroia is not possible. Bring up Ciriaco. He was very good in ST. Let Pedroia heal.
  4. Well, we won't lose another game to the Jays. They lost today. Orioles and Phillies in extra innings. Last chance for the Sox. Not gonna happen today.
  5.
  6. All the innings count. Saying that is like saying that the fall off the skyscraper didn't hurt, it was the sudden stop at the bottom.
  7. I believe that he should have been DL'd before and I also believe that he will eventually land there anyway, either because he is hurting his team, or because he makes his injury much worse by trying to play through it.
  8. I will let you usurp my true name, gramps, as long as you heretofore refer to me as "grumps".
  9. Great job by Morales. Kept his team in the game. Gonna be a challenge to get two more runs in two innings, but at least Gonzalez is out of there now. Its still possible to win this game by scoring five runs.
  10. Mighty Mouth is obviously playing hurt. Trouble is, he is hurting the team now. He should have been DL'd. That was a mistake. I would have forced him to the DL, no matter how much he objected, and brought up Ciriaco.
  11. Mighty Mouth up. Lets see if he can perform as well as he can talk
  12. Well this is it. Score multiple runs here or hope all the other ALE teams lose today. This is our chance. We won't get many of them today.
  13. Ignore her. Nothing she says matter one iota to me. I mean ZERO. She is trying to get me into the kind of personal crap she enjoys and I am never going to do that again.
  14. Again, I do respect the logic you usually use here, but I cannot see any logic in your position. I also think I have a decent grasp of baseball statistics. Two reasonably intelligent people can disagree. That is the case here. No hard feelings. This is the way all discussions ought to be here.
  15. Cleverly avoiding the question. I can live with "there were some positives about his performance, some things that were encouraging". Dominant? No way. Good? Nope. No need to answer. You already did.
  16. Usually you make sense, but this is absurd. Surrendering four earned runs on hard hit balls in five innings in no way represents even a good outing, let alone dominance by the pitcher. None of those hits were dribbler or bloops. They were all hard hit balls. Doesn't matter that three of those runs came in one inning. I don't think you will find many people who thing that DiceK's performance was dominant today, but it might make for an interesting poll.
  17. Great pitching will do that to a team-it shuts down their offense. This is the model our FO needs to adopt-recognizing, securing, and adopting top flight pitching. Until they do that we will get this kind of team-mediocrity defined, or worse, and no playoffs. Our pitching has stunk for three years running now, and if we miss the playoffs again, that will again be the reason. When the other guys shut down our offense we need our pitchers to be able to do the same thing to them, and right now, they can't. They are not talented enough.
  18. Nope. No debate. You think that allowing four runs in five innings represents "dominance", and I say he sucked for doing that, especially against a popgun offense like the Nats. Did DiceK dominate Moore when he hit that ground rule double? I suppose that was pure luck. And Aviles wasn't given an error on his play, was he? Even if he knocks that down, he has no play. And I suppose Desmond's single driving in two runs was just luck too. What is laughable is not the K/BB ratio, its your arguement that this abortion represents dominance. You are wrong, plain and simple.
