  1. Good for Youk....I feel sorry for the guy. He gave this team everything he had for years. Gotta hand him that.
  2. Paladios, you do realize that W-L is one of the worst measures of a pitcher's performance, right?
  3. As I recall, his broken back was discovered last July. His ERA counts for this year. No mulligans in baseball. Thats golf. I want to see 2-3 good seasons from him, full seasons, before I believe he is a good person to have in our rotation over the long haul.
  4. You can't throw out this year any more than I can throw out 2010. They all count.
  5. He WAS great for one full season. The rest of the time he has not shown us much more than potential.
  6. A bit hard to understand so early in the game, isn't it?
  7. His ERA coming into this game was 3.91; its probably nearing 4 now. In my book thats not very good; its mediocre. Furthermore, he has had ONLY ONE FULL SEASON of proving his worth as a SP, and even then he threw only 173 innings that year. He has potential, but has not proven he is a reliable SP yet. He keeps getting that deer in the headlights look.
  8. This is why I reserved judgement on Clay Buchholz until he had enough games to prove that he had changed. He has not.
  9. I see Bucky is laying an egg tonite. Uggh.
  10. By the way, if Youkilis is traded, who is the backup 1B to Agon? Punto? Maybe I am missing someone...
  11. DMac's days with this club are numbered. Crawford will be back in a few weeks, followed in another few weeks by Ellsbury, hopefully. Time for DMac to dust off his resume.
  12. Do you think it might be more than coincidence that Gonzalez, Youkilis, Beckett, Lester, Pedroia, Aviles etc are ALL not playing to their career averages? Many of those guys have been in the media with quotes that do not project a happy clubhouse. There are exceptions: Ortiz is one. He talks a lot but is producing. To me it seems more than chance that those who are doing most of the talking are the ones who are underproducing the most noticeably.
  13. I don't think that even the FO can deny that now. He is being asked to throw only 1-2 innings at a time. Sounds like a reliever to me. The question is not SP vs RP. Its RP vs oblivion.
  14. No coincidence that all of the players you listed have underperformed this year. Instead of getting grumpy and making unhelpful quotes to the media they ought to look in the mirror and see if they like what they see there.
  15. So lets see, according to you we are not 33-33 because of chemistry. What's your explanation then? Don't waste your time with the injury excuse; every team has injuries.
  16. Franklin Morales stats since April 23: ERA: 2.00 OPSa: .615 BAA: .212 K/BB: 15/5 BABIP: .245 Opening day to April 21: ERA: 6.35 OPSa: .741 BAA: .304 I think that many of us have been overly harsh on Morales, including me. The statistics show that he has actually been a stalwart in the pen since April 21. These stats do not include today's game in which he was charged with two runs in five innings but was really responsible for one (Pedroia dropped a pop fly that hit him in the glove, and it was the outfielder's ball anyway). Pretty impressive.
  17. As I recall, he has been pitching well lately in multiple inning outings. Haven't checked the stats. Still, pitching this well is eye opening.
