  1. Send Devers down right now. I would remove him from the game in the middle of the inning.
  2. I think our outstanding weakness is our offense v LHP. The rest of our team is fine aside from that. I Beltre would be a nice addition and contrary to what Jacko thinks, an elderly FA to be can probably be had on the cheap, relatively speaking. Then we could return Devers to AAA, which is where he belongs right now.
  3. Where is Thornburg...he might help. Some of the other guys are OK too: Velasquez (ERA 3.81), Workman, who allowed his first run of the year today.....Hembree is only at 3.60. Those guys are serviceable most of the time.
  4. Thats the problem. Yes, they brought Devers up to soon, but the reality is that they are stuck with him now. He has too many holes in his game both offensively and defensively and his performance stinks, overall. It is what it is.
  5. Workman hasn't given up a run this year...I didn't realize that.
  6. Who plays third base then? There are no reasonable alternative right now.
  7. Going to need two more runs to win this game.....and one of the automatic outs leads off in the seventh.
  8. Devers boots a DP ball....he is totally useless in the field. No improvement at all.
  9. Get someone up in the pen right now
  10. Devers defense hurts the team again.....he should have had that
  11. I think the Sox will need two more runs to win this
  12. OOPS....562. His OPS+ is an abyssmal 53. In the last 15 games its around .460
  13. More important than Babip is his OPS...which is below .500. He is only a late inning defensive replacement player now...Cora needs to wake up and bench him.
  14. I would not be pitching to JD here
  15. When Bradley gets up there can we just assign him an intentional out..like an intentional walk? No need for the pitcher to waste pitches-and it speeds up the game.
  16. Yankees lose....Rays finally get up off the mat
  17. Two more runners left out on base....once you get past Holt and are facing Vasquez and no-hit Bradley its a dark dark hole you are looking at.
  18. Right now I think that neither the Yankees OR the Red Sox should be the favorite to win the AL championship: the Astros are the best team statistically and they have a league leading team ERA that is half a run better than their nearest competitor, the Red Sox. Oh-and they also lead in runs scored.
  19. Paxton has reverse splits this year. Lefties have done much better against him than righties. Cora said that is why he plans to load the lineup with lefties tonight.
  20. So happy to see that Stanton is failing in NY, or at least not living up to the hype: BA: .244 OPS: .795 OPS+: 112 (166 last year) K%: 35.6 of ABs On the other hand, JD Martinez has exceeded expectations: BA: .317 OPS: 1.039 OPS+: 173 K%: 26.5% While its possible that the huge gap between the two could close, I could not be happier that we got the right guy.
  21. Jacko is wrong. I wouldn't send the Orioles any top prospects, let alone 3-4 of them-not for a two month rental. I would be shocked at the stupidity of any GM who is willing to give up some of the future of his team for a guy that come October will be wearing a different uniform. I would think about giving them Velasquez for Machado....maybe one more mid level guy too...but thats about it.
  22. We aren't entitled to know what Dombrowski is thinking or planning. For all we know he was considering bringing up Devers, who was doing very well in the minor leagues, all along. As I have written, there are no better alternatives to play 3B to Devers right now. All we can do is hope that somehow is *potential* is realized soon, because he certainly isn't performing well right now. As for what the Orioles can get for Machado or Britton, its absurd to think that they will get a haul for either guy unless the player is signed long term before the trade. No GM is going to hand over a top prospect for a two month rental, let alone a starter with *potential*. I would think that the Orioles will try to get something for those two guys rather than let them just walk out the front door, but its likely to be mid level prospects.
