  1. As you know, in the playoffs some of their SPs become relievers as well. Thats what the Sox did last year and what every team does in the playoffs. They have enough strength in SP to carry them to a ring. Vegas I think lists them as co-favorites with the Astros right now.
  2. I think the Astros will knock off the Yankees, now that they have Greinke. They have a great team. And don't sell the Dodgers short; they could easily win it all.
  3. What series? The Sox season is over. The fans know it; the players know it. It really doesn't matter how we do against the Royals. Last year was our year.
  4. Ummm...the Dodgers have the third best bullpen ERA in the NL. They also have the best ERA for SP and overall ERA. They have a great team: great pitching and they have scored more runs and have a better OPS than any NL team. The Yankees will be playing a REAL team if they make it far enough to face them in the WS.
  5. They are hitting against a stiff. Means nothing that they are successful.
  6. I disagree. Leave his ass out there until his arm falls off. Embarrass him.
  7. Its a good thing that both the Dodgers and Astros have a better team than the Yankees. As long as the Yankees don't win a ring it will be OK. This Sox team stinks. Its no feather in anyone's cap to crush these bums.
  8. I don't want him on my team next year for any money.
  9. JBJ wouldn't be in most lineups at all. He is only a late inning defensive replacement. Thats it.
  10. Can you blame them? Thats why we need to IL some of these stiffs and bring up players who actually TRY out there.
  11. I am so NOT going to miss Bradley next year.
  12. Truth is, it doesn't matter any more. I would rather see some of the Pawtucket guys come up for a cup of coffee and IL some of the stiffs who have pretended to play baseball this year.
  13. I think that the time for the Sox to feel pressure is long gone.
  14. The pen was less "overused" than the Yankee pen or the Rays pen and only slightly more "overused" than the A's pen. Its just that our pen stunk relative to the playoff contenders. Its very simply a performance issue.
  15. I agree. Sale, Price, and Porcello all had bad years, but there is still plenty left in their tanks. They will probably all have bounceback years. All of them were well off their career norms in ERA: Sale: 4.68/3.04; Price: 3.86/3.28; Porcello: 5.74/4.35. While I do not expect all of them to reach their career norms I think they will do better than this year. Add to that a hopefully healthy Eovaldi and the ERod of 2019 and I think we can reasonably expect a much better year from our starters in 2020. The offense isn't going to be a problem. I can see DD constructing a bullpen that is much better by possibly trading away some of the offensive pieces we have. We probably have one more year before a rebuild is necessary. As for the GM and Cora: I give them one more year. If the Sox fail to make the playoffs in 2020 I would fire both of them.
  16. Its probably more productive right now to focus on what the team can do to become relevant again next year. While the pitching has sucked all year I think that our SPs still have something in the tank for next year. Sale, Price, and Porcello have all underachieved this year. I can see a modest comeback year next year. I do not think that they will be the dominant forces they were in 2018, but they will probably be better in 2020. I think that the focus has to be on building a top notch bullpen, even if we have to trade away some of our offensive chips. Our bullpen this year was simply horrible. And I am tired of hearing that its because the SPs didn't go deep enough into games. The fact of the matter is that the Rays and the Yankee RPs have worked more innings than our RPs, and the A's RPs only worked 27 fewer innings. Its not because our pen was overworked relative to the playoff contenders: its because they simply sucked. And that must change.
  17. Again the Sox fail to advance the runner on second to third with nobody out. Poor fundamental baseball.
  18. We lose this and we are six games out in the lost column. So happy the players called a team meeting.
  19. No. Because Texiera can actually neigh.
  20. 10 runs. We will need 10 runs to win this game.
  21. Texiera is the other 2/3.
  22. Spoke too soon.....
  23. These guys are just pathetic. Runners on second and third with nobody out and we aren't scoring. Unbelievable. Just a really crappy team.
  24. This one is just about over. We do not come back from deficits.
  25. I would not trade him. He ranks 10th in OPS in the AL of catchers with a minimum of 150 ABs. Not bad. Not great either.
