  1. Taylor just sucks......you gotta throw strikes.
  2. I cannot under any circumstances root for the Yankees to win....NEVER.
  3. The Sox are just as bad as the Angels...pretty pathetic. Good thing it doesn't make any difference.
  4. Can a team be losing but up by three runs?
  5. The nerd and Remy are in agreement that Cora blundered in his approach to the SPs in ST. Remy said they just didn't have a chance to get their mechanics down and that when he was a player he wanted to be ready when "the bell rang". He said that there is no on and off switch. I agree with those two. Glad its out there now. All the fans know it. Its good that these guys are so publicly critical of Cora.
  6. 26 pitchers already.....not good for Eovaldi
  7. I understand the unbridled optimism. But a little dose of reality: we are SEVEN GAMES in the lost column behind the last WC spot with just 29 remaining. If the A's just go 17-14 we would have to go 22-7 just to tie-without Chris Sale. That is just not going to happen. We aren't mathematically eliminated yet, but the season is over.
  8. No one is unaware of the position we are in. Some people are just holding out until we are mathematically eliminated, but no one here is so dumb that they think we actually have a good chance to make the playoffs.
  9. A closer would not help, not with Sale, Porcello, and Price stinking all nearly year.
  10. Todd Walker is one...not sure who the other guy is.
  11. Wright is a sleeze ball. I don't want him on my team. As for JBJ, I agree. He has trade value. Maybe someone will give us a marginal AA player for him.
  12. Hopefully they will rest Price for the remainder of the year.
  13. I don't hate anyone I am in competition with. I do hate the Yankees.
  14. I can't speak for all Red Sox fans, but I am apathetic about which teams are the wild cards. It won't be the Sox. As long as the Yankees do not win the World Series I am fine with whoever wins the ring.
  15. Strangely enough, I have the same birthday as Yaz.....have had it all my life.
  16. It is ALWAYS considered good form to bash the Yankees in any way you see fit. However, if you choose not to do so, the rest of us will have to make up for the shots you fail to take at them.
  17. Sure, we still have a chance. One source I read put that chance at 2%. The season is essentially, though not mathematically, over.
  18. Snell is expected back in September; Chirinos will probably be back in September. Glasnow is likely done. Even without Glasnow the Rays have better pitching than the Yankees, though I certainly would not expect them to beat them in any series. I think either Houston or the Dodgers will take out the Yankees, and again the Yankees will have failed this year.
  19. Thats the other thing about the Yankees: yes, their pen is above average (though not as good as Jacko thinks when compared to many other playoff contenders). In the playoffs managers rely not only on their bullpen pitchers but also on their SPs to give them some innings. And the Yankee starters are very ordinary, for the most part. Their pen will be greatly taxed.
  20. Using ERA as a gauge, the Guardians, the Rays, the A's, the Astros, and the Dodgers all have a better bullpen than the Yankees. Now you might say the ERA is a poor marker for excellence, but its not like the Yankees have THE dominant pen. In fact, they are pretty ordinary when compared to other potential playoff teams. The Yankees have a chance for a ring...but they should not be favored to win it because their SP is substandard, ranking 19th in MLB in ERA. There isn't another playoff bound team with that kind of mediocre SPing.
  21. No, its because overall he sucks with a bat in his hands. He hasn't had an OPS+ year over 100 (=average) since 2016. Even his dWAR is just 0.4 this year-hardly stellar. Yes, I do like him in CF, but I will not miss him next year when he is (hopefully) gone. There are lots of good defensive CF out there and in the rebuilding process hopefully we will find one who can also hit the baseball.
  22. The playoffs are a crapshoot. The team that wins the ring is usually the team that got hot at the right time. Last year the Sox were hot all year. The Yankees have a chance, but I would think that the Astros and the Dodgers would be co-favorites right now.
