  1. If he needs surgery based on the evaluation in October he misses next year, same as if he needed surgery after today's evaluation. He still might needs surgery, but delaying it until October won't result in him missing more time than if he had it next week.
  2. No one said he would come back completely healthy next year to the best of my knowledge. I read that he would be re-evaluated in six weeks.
  3. Different players, different situation most likely. We haven't been given the actual diagnosis, nor are we likely to get it. As you know, inflammation is just a symptom, not a diagnosis. Without a diagnosis its impossible to postulate what Sale will look like in the future.
  4. I agree with this assessment. And I do not think that DD is the right guy to rebuild our farm system. I don't think he has ever successfully done that. He is a GM who tends to destroy farm systems in order to win now. Nothing wrong with that, but he is the wrong guy for the job at hand.
  5. If Sale needs TJS its a fire sale this winter to reset. Trade Mookie; he is gone anyway after next year. Get whatever we can for the deadwood. Lose Leon. It will be a long summer but 2021 will be better.
  6. So does just about everyone else in the league. At least the offenses do.
  7. Like DiceK, ERod is afraid to challenge hitters, preferring to nibble nibble nibble. They should just start him off with a 3-2 count. He needs to improve on that because going 5 innings doesn't cut it. If he wants to improve, thats how to do it.
  8. That wasn't an easy play.
  9. I think I will take your suggestion and ignore it.
  10. Or irrelevant. As long as its not a serious injury that threatens NEXT year, its irrelevant.
  11. Like I said, they should PH Owings.
  12. Really? Owings to PH? He is horrible.
  13. I would phrase that differently: they are NOT AS BAD on the road as at home.
  14. Here is where Vasquez has to get the runners to advance...at least.
  15. Porcello got lucky there.
  16. Rick the Prick is about to implode.
  17. Seriously? What difference does it make that DD didn't sign Hernandez? Or anyone else at this point in the season. He is not an idiot. He can see the handwriting on the wall. The real question is why bother to sign Owings? Just let the season end as as quickly as possible and start planning for next year.
  18. The Orioles have five wins out of 13 games against us so far. Against our team they are already competitive.
  19. Because of last year both DD and Cora get one more year to make good. No playoffs next year and they are both gone.
  20. Of course they have. They will never admit it, but they can smell the roses (or, in this case, the skunk) as well as we can. It would be far more entertaining to see some of our younger guys in AAA or AA come up and try.
  21. In that case they should have led Porcello off with Cashner batting second.
  22. You know better than to use W-L record to judge a pitcher's performance-either his own record of that of the team when he pitches. Its probably the WORST data point to use. He has been, overall, awful for the Red Sox. I will not miss him next year.
  23. It doesn't matter. In fact, its good to see some of the Pawtucket guys coming up and getting a little chance to play. It sure better than watching the guys trying to imitate a baseball team for the first 120 games.
