  1. Scum knows no financial limits.
  2. Can we change that next year?
  3. I think certain Sox players played hard at times. But all season long there were too many mental errors on the part of both the players and the manager to ignore. I know you weren't on the game threads much, but many of us who were mentioned them at the time. Baserunning blunders over and over again; poor decisions on the field; Cora failing to put his players in the best possible position to win a game; Cora failing to get is SPs ready for game one...and so forth. Its a matter of opinion, but to me, these guys did not play with the same focus and intensity this year as last. The talent was there to be competitive, but they simply were not into the games too often. Thats my opinion and I am sticking with it.
  4. Your act is getting old.
  5. That word, "hate", is being tossed around here, but it is not really accurate. For me its really reserved for people who commit immoral crimes in real life. I love trash talking to our rival Yankee fans and certainly would not want them to win another game as long as baseball lives.....but in this context real hate is not an accurate description, as every Sox fan knows. I think you are right: "dislike" is more accurate.
  6. A lot of people here are gloating over the fact that the Yankees will not win a ring this year. I can't do it, not when my team never showed up despite being close to the same team that won 108 games last year. Their guys played way over their heads for sure, but when our guys didn't even play its hard for me to knock other teams who were more successful. I think it would be different if we were as competitive as we should have been based on our roster.
  7. Yes, that is a knock on the 2018 Sox, a team that steamrolled all year including the playoffs. They beat "the best team to come around in a long time" in FIVE GAMES-despite Sale "being a shell of himself". If you are looking for the best team to come around in a long time you need look no further than the 2018 Red Sox, a team for the ages.
  8. They lost Sabathia, German (what an idiot), and Severino (who never really got his footing). In the pen they lost Betances. Stanton was hurt. Yes, I hate the Yankees too, but they never gave up, unlike this year's Red Sox team which never even showed up. I am glad we still have a ring from 2018 and finished the job that year, and I am almost as glad that the Yankees didn't get a ring this year. But I see a team in the Yankees that busted their butts to make the most of what they had available in contrast to our team this year. Yes, the cockroaches are dead, and we are all entitled to rejoice in that fact. I would be much happier if our team showed up for the season this year too. They had the talent to do it but took the year off.
  9. You know, I hate the Yankees as much as anyone. BUT.....look at the season they had. They lost an incredible number of players-star players like Stanton, Judge, Betances, Severino etc etc-and still won 103 games. Unlike the Red Sox, who never showed up this year, they played their asses off and made a great run. They met a better team in the playoffs and couldn't get it done. While I am really happy that they will not be wearing a ring this year this year's Yankee team earned my grudging respect. Unlike this year's Red Sox team.
  10. To be perfectly honest, winning a ring that year was second on my all time Sox moments. First was eliminating the Yankees in the ALCS after falling behind 3 games to none.
  11. They aren't doing it. Houston is the better team. That said, I begrudgingly respect the way the Yankees have played hard through injuries this year, refusing to use them as an excuse. Stanton is still hurt; Severino hasn't regained his form; Betances is gone; and that idiot German, who was the best pitcher on the staff for most of the year managed to pull a Steven Wright and get himself tossed out of the playoffs. Thats a lot to swallow-too much when you are facing a team like the Astros.
  12. We won't be top five without Betts and JD. That was the premise.
  13. More brain dead baseball....all year long. This team is pretty disgusting to watch, to be honest.
  14. They aren't even competitive WITH Betts and JD. Sale sucked this year and Price was a solid #4. They are not going to be relevant for a few years.
  15. Its inevitable. Betts is gone unless Martinez goes; maybe both. Its going to be a tough 2-3 years. Go Patriots.
  16. More brain dead baseball...unbelievable. Same s*** all year long.
  17. Last year our top four SPs (Sale, Porcello, Price, and ERod) pitched about 654 innings. This year they pitched 624 innings. Not much difference, just 30 innings. The fact of the matter is that they simply sleepwalked through the season, mailing it in (except ERod) from day 1. Had they done the job that they are capable of doing we would be playing baseball next week.
  18. Blaming injuries is an excuse. Yes, we had some of them, but look at the Yankees and the injuries they had and how they coped with them. It has nothing to do with injuries. It has to do with playing brain dead baseball for much of the year and with guys mailing it in all year.
  19. There are always a lot of "ifs". Look at it this way: in 2018 our SPs were 4th in the AL in ERA, just .09 RPG below the third place team. And we added Eovaldi this year. The talent was there for them to do the job, but they were poorly prepared to start the season. They simply did not do the job. Their ERA was about 1.2 RPG worse than last year. IMO the only "if" is whether or not our SPs get their collective acts together, not whether or not there is enough talent to perform, Sale's injury notwithstanding. With the exception of ERod, everyone else just wasn't focused this year for whatever reason.
  20. Here is the link. German is done for the year. Its going to be a lot harder for the Yankees to win a ring without him. But, unfortunately, they have won all year without contributions from some pretty major players: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/27661066/sources-yanks-german-pitch-again-19
  21. Here is the link: https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/19/sport/domingo-german-yankees-mlb-trnd/index.html Pretty stupid......they get Severino back but lose German for .....how long? At least seven days while they investigate...could be a lot longer.
  22. Its worse than a meaningless win if it costs us moving up in the draft position.
  23. Exactly. Its beyond me that there are actually paying fans at this game tonight. It would be so fitting if the last home game of the season got boycotted.
  24. All I can say is that John Henry owes us a public apology. The product on the field tonight is an embarrassment. No hits in five innings. Just wow....
  25. I propose a new category of troll: the Oblivious Troll. These are trolls who do not even possess the level of introspection to realize that they are trolling. One example is Harmony, who has rarely, if ever, posted a positive comment about the Red Sox and uses every possible opportunity available to put them down. Jacko knows he is trolling IMO but does it anyway, so he is a "self-aware troll". OTs....SATs......I like it.
