I disagree. No reasonable amount of bullpen help was going to make much of a difference given how s***** our SP was this year. Our pen actually had a lower ERA than our SPs: 4.29 v 4.99. If the SP was good we would be in the playoff hunt no matter what DD did with the pen.
The nerd and Remy are in agreement that Cora blundered in his approach to the SPs in ST. Remy said they just didn't have a chance to get their mechanics down and that when he was a player he wanted to be ready when "the bell rang". He said that there is no on and off switch.
I agree with those two. Glad its out there now. All the fans know it. Its good that these guys are so publicly critical of Cora.
I understand the unbridled optimism. But a little dose of reality: we are SEVEN GAMES in the lost column behind the last WC spot with just 29 remaining. If the A's just go 17-14 we would have to go 22-7 just to tie-without Chris Sale. That is just not going to happen. We aren't mathematically eliminated yet, but the season is over.
No one is unaware of the position we are in. Some people are just holding out until we are mathematically eliminated, but no one here is so dumb that they think we actually have a good chance to make the playoffs.
Wright is a sleeze ball. I don't want him on my team. As for JBJ, I agree. He has trade value. Maybe someone will give us a marginal AA player for him.
I can't speak for all Red Sox fans, but I am apathetic about which teams are the wild cards. It won't be the Sox. As long as the Yankees do not win the World Series I am fine with whoever wins the ring.
It is ALWAYS considered good form to bash the Yankees in any way you see fit. However, if you choose not to do so, the rest of us will have to make up for the shots you fail to take at them.
