  1. Does the term bother you? I could use other words. “Miserly” ”Tightwad” ”Penny pincher” You choose
  2. Exactly! No one cares much about the rings the team has won with Henry as owner. Baseball is very much a "what have you done for me lately" sport, like most sports. We all know what the Cheapskate has done for the team lately, unfortunately.
  3. Did you know that Florence Griffith-Joyner holds that women's 100m sprint record? She has held it since 1988. Its also unlikely to be caught. Who cares what the FLOPS have done in the past. Resting on past achievements does nothing for the present. This team could compete nearly every year for a ring with a decent owner that is not a tightwad.
  4. The are pursuing players at a level below top notch. Sometimes even less. Think "Buehler", for example. Yes Henry has five rings but he seems quite satisfied with them. The fans are not. We deserve a team that competes for a ring nearly every year, and unfortunately that requires a new owner.
  5. I think Henry wouldn't MIND winning, but his top priority is making more money. Thats pretty clear. While I admit that this is his right as principal owner the fans have to adopt realistic expectations with Henry as owner: we will not win another ring with the current situation in place.
  6. Maybe a couple of wins better because we also added Contreras and Suarez. I think we will be better with Gray as the #3-4 SP. But we also lost players, Bregman being the most significant. So 2-3 wins better but not in a position to compete for a ring.
  7. I’d be optimistic had they signed Schwarber and Ranger along with the others they got. I don’t see this team as currently constructed as a real contender for a ring.
  8. We need a solid talented hitter. So I’d look at ERA+ as a good way to measure that. Paredes has a lower ERA+ I believe than Schwarber or Alonso. Had we signed Schwarber along with Ranger I’d look at that as a commitment to winning. Of course, that didn’t happen.
  9. We have a window to win a ring NOW IMO. By 2028 that may have passed. I would have preferred to capitalize on the 2026 opportunity. Instead we seem to be letting is pass us by because Henry won't pay for top talent.
  10. Paredes is OK, but certainly not in the *star* category of players like Schwarber or Alonso. It would be just more of the same. Yes, he would likely improve the team a little, but its the cheap "Henry" way out.
  11. Congratulations!
  12. The owners are cheap This IS a disgusting franchise And I would be shocked if they signed a talented bat Still true.
  13. Yes I’d be shocked. The history of this team is that the owner is a tightwad. Sure it’s possible. It’s possible that Duran will win the batting title this year, but I wouldn’t bet on it. That said I would be delighted if we acquired the pieces we need to become the contender that we currently are not. PS: I’m not trading Bello. Use other players in a trade. Maybe we can finally get rid of Rafaela.
  14. I doubt we will get a good bat through trade either. Too expensive for the cheapskate owner. I was shocked that he paid Suarez. Guess his wallet is empty now.
  15. Well Bichette is now off the table. Just signed with the Mets. Henry is a crap owner. Not many good FA bats left out there. No improvement in the offense = no playoffs. Take it to the bank. Disgusting bunch of losers running the franchise.
  16. I read that Marte is not going to be traded.
  17. I’m sure the players are doing the best they can for the most part. But some are capable of doing more than others. We need more of that kind of player and less dumpster rejects.
  18. I look at the way the team has conducted business vis a vis talented FAs and I don’t see us getting the bat we need. Probably something less. It’s a real shame because we are close to having a really good team. Now I admit that getting Suarez was a surprise and a good start. Let’s see if they can finish the job.
  19. I know you’re not. It’s just irritating that Henry has so obviously made the choice to pocket a higher percentage of team revenue than all but 7 teams all the while lying to the fans that he is committed to winning. I’ll tell you who is committed to winning: the Dodgers. They just signed Kyle Tucker to all to their already loaded roster. But hey! We got Sonny Gray!
  20. Then I guess the flops will have to beat the other teams to the star players. They certainly haven’t been doing tjat. They express a lot of “interest” in them but almost invariably get outbid. The bottom line is that Henry IS cheap. He can do better than offering excuses.
  21. Only a few teams have the resources to outspend the Flops. When you are at #4 (or whatever it is) in revenue you shouldn’t be outspent by all but 7 other teams percentage-wise if you are serious about winning. Henry is not serious about winning despite his claims to the contrary. He’s more concerned about lining his pockets, which is his prerogative-just don’t lie to the fans about it. Be up front. Something like “Hey-baseball is a business and businesses need to make money !”. Everyone can see it. Just speak the truth!
  22. Generally speaking the teams willing to spend money to attract top talent win rings more often than those that don’t. The dodgers are a good example of combining lots of money with good judgement.
  23. There is no one here that I know of who thinks that spending the available money wisely isn’t important. The issue is that there should be more money available based on the large revenue the franchise takes in.
  24. Fair enough. I also respect your position. But we differ on what constitutes dishonesty. I suspect we will continue to disagree on that. When you are 23rd in percentage of revenue spent on player salaries that’s telling. It implies to me that you really are going all in when you should to secure top talent since you claimed that was your intent (to compete for a championship) and you have the means to do so but failed to do your best to keep that promise.
  25. Henry is a smart man. He knows it takes high level talent to win a ring most of the time. And he knows that to attract high level talent it takes money, which he has plenty of. He could have afforded Schwarber. He could have afforded Alonso, And he could have afforded Bregman, but he let all of those top end players slip away to more generous owners. Saying you want to win but not "putting your money where your mouth is" is dishonest.
