  1. Something like “we really wanted to make a deal. We were INTERESTED in making a deal.” Not expecting much, if anything
  2. His OPS+ last year was 96-below average. Yet his oWAR was calculated at slightly above average to average. The OPS+ figure more closely aligns with what I saw on the field. And don’t forget-from Aug 1 on he tailed off significantly.
  3. I’m not a slave to numbers. I use my numbers and if they conflict with what I see on the field then the player fails the sniff test. I don’t believe the WAR numbers are accurate (offense) for Rafaela last year. They don’t pass the sniff test and will be disregarded.
  4. How did that happen? His OPS+ was below average. It makes me question how bWAR is calculated and its validity.
  5. Perhaps you’d like to prove I admitted I “troll”. Good luck with that since I admitted no such thing. Another figment of your imagination.
  6. Don’t get me wrong: I was exclusively referring to our Rafaela discussion. I’m done with that. However I feel free to engage is discourse with you or with anyone else on other topics.
  7. Putting others on ignore basically allows others to contradict and disprove what you wrote without being able to defend it. It’s the internet equivalent of becoming a punching bag.
  8. What portion of his calculated value last year was based on his abysmal offensive performance and what part was based on defensive performance? Can’t answer? Then I’ll answer for you: all defense.
  9. OK...one more post then I am done. I am not attacking YOU (at least I wasn't until you starting your whining campaign against ME). I was commenting on Rafaela, giving him a fair shake, complimenting him when he played well and criticizing him when he screwed up, which was often last year. You decided to make it personal, but I am out. Now you can get the last word in. I am returning to discussing baseball, fair and balanced.
  10. There you go. Your last word. Now lets move on from your nonsense. I doubt many other posters here are interested in your vendetta.
  11. Sounds like a guy who knows he is right to me. How's letting me live rent free inside your head working out for you?
  12. Its fine. I don't mind him getting the last word in sometimes. Its a small price to pay for me living rent free in his head.
  13. There is an argument to be made NOT to change catchers. Our pitching is now 2nd in the AL in ERA. I would guess that our pitchers are comfortable with our current catching duo though Narvaez isn't hitting much at all. Perhaps its better to improve the team in the OF (LF in particular-Duran is a distraction who isn't contributing) and getting a decent SP to eat some innings that our younger SPs shouldn't be forced to eat. I think Springer would be a good addition even though he is having an off year.
  14. You are obsessed with me. Try to pay attention. In yesterday's game thread I posted that I thought that our needs at the TD are catcher and LF>SP, that we do not need a SS.
  15. Case in point. Get your act together Moon. Its time to move on. If you don't have anything intelligent and relevant to write here I see no point in responding to your nonsense.
  16. Still whining, eh? My plan is to keep posting a fair and balanced assessment, IMO of course, and I really don't give a rats ass if you like it. If Rafaela or anyone else screws up and fails to play sound fundamental baseball I will call them out on it. If they do their job well I will comment on that too. That is my style of posting. Its much better than your incessant whining.
  17. Just can't stop whining, eh Moon? Its time to move on and enjoy the run. The team has been a lot of fun to watch, unexpectedly, and Rafaela has been part of it. We will agree to disagree that he sucked last year, especially at the end of the year. And now he is performing at superstar level. Hopefully he can keep it up.
  18. You’ll get no argument from me about that. I’m done responding to posts about him in 2025. It’s history.
  19. Imo it’s either him or we trade for a LF. I think Duran could be a distraction
  20. If he’s expected back we don’t need another LF. I don’t know his status
  21. We get Crochet and Anthony back and a few tweaks we can compete with the Dodgers. We are already competing with them.
  22. Duran can’t stay. He’s not contributing and you can’t be showing up your coach or teammate, whoever he was yelling at. Springer wants to come to Boston. He always hits well at Fenway. I think he would be an improvement. Our pen has been lights out but sure-the more the merrier..
  23. IMO we need upgrades at LF, catcher, and a SP. otherwise we are set
  24. Ok Not on ESPN or MLB. They don’t need Skubal and it takes him away from our American League competition
