    Now lets play the games. I hope I am wrong but I don't see us making the playoffs this year. And we ABSOLUTELY are NOT legitimate contenders for a ring. Henry the Cheap and Breslow the Idiot are allowing this window to pass.

    More than likely a third place finish wouldn’t get us into the playoffs. It happened last year but I have to think it’s unusual for a third place team to make the playoffs two years in a row. And not making the playoffs is unacceptable.

    I stand by what I wrote. I believe that if everything goes well we will finish fourth. If not, last. If things go much better than I expect then above fourth is possible. This is all a matter of opinion. These so called “projections” by do called experts don’t mean a thing. They have to play the games. At the end of the year we will see who is right. It’s difficult as a knowledgeable fan to see that management and ownership are allowing this window to compete for a ring to slip by. They did only HALF the job. They fixed the rotation but basically ignored the lineup. It’s typical of the way the have been operating for many years. ”Full throttle”. Right. 🙄

    Really. And how many times have we actually wagered? None you say? Case closed. I presented a counter offer on which to wager. Get an OPS infielder hitting.800 then I graciously lowered my offer to .780. You wisely declined. You would have easily lost that bet as neither IF we obtained hits anywhere close to that. Basically we got more dumpster material. Again.

    I then lowered my floor to .780 OPS. I would have won that bet too, had Brady been foolish enough to bet with me. We basically got more dumpster fodder, as I predicted.

    I gave you the correct meaning of the term and why I used it. Seems you and Moon don't understand what the term means. Here is the definition: "under the most favorable circumstances" So....under "the most favorable circumstances" the FLOPS will IMO finish fourth. Under less than the most favorable circumstances they will finish dead last.     Why would I be interested in a wager proposal from you when you declined to accept a very generous wager that I proposed?

    What finishing in 4th place "at best" means is that I believe it is more likely we will finish there more than anywhere else, but it is more likely that we finish last than 3rd or above.

    I think we will finish in 4th place. I also think the odds of finishing last are greater than finishing above 4th place. Hence 4th place at best is accurate.

    I would if I thought they deserved it. I see three ALE teams that are likely better than us. I think we are better than the Rays. Sure-anything is possible and we could win the division. I don’t see it happening. We won’t score enough runs.

    Getting Bregman (or Alonso or Schwarber) wasn’t mutually exclusive for getting Suarez. All it takes is reasonable spending.

    He was certainly allowed to spend! Just not nearly enough. No one is saying he didn’t spend. He hasn’t spent wisely or enough to make the team competitive.

    No doubt! He won’t deserve it but his job is to fulfill Henry’s miserly policies. He’s good at that. I totally understand that Breslow works for the Cheapskate, not for me. If he had a spine he would stand up to his boss and tell him that unless the wallet opens up more we aren’t going to be winners. Of course he would be looking for a new job if he did that.

    If it doesn't work out and we do not compete for a ring THIS YEAR Breslow can start looking for a job selling used cars.

    Cole missed the entire year. Anthony played until September 2. Big difference. We had Anthony nearly all year. The Yankmees are getting back an ace that missed the whole season. And they have a lot more players who can hit the baseball. We have Anthony and a prayer.

    I really don’t care what the Athletic gave the Yankmees for a grade. Cole was out all year and he’ll be back, and they lost almost nobody. We lost a lot of thump in our lineup and will likely be bottom half or bottom third in runs scored. Suarez doesn’t make up for that. The Jays and Os are significantly better and will likely finish ahead of the Flops. Thanks Breslow. Thanks Henry the Cheap.

    Yeah. It was just wonderful. Half assed job at best. I’d give him maybe a C. If he didn’t sign Suarez I’d give him an F. The Yankees, Jays, and the Os will finish above us. Take it to the bank. I’m getting pretty good at the prediction business. I predicted they would sign dumpster products rather than get a quality IF bat. And that’s exactly what they did. Disgusting franchise.

    We are a fourth place team at best. The other teams in the division improved more than we did. Henry lied to us again.

    I think you’re giving him too much credit. I believe (and I admit I don’t know for sure) that he puts a higher priority on profit than winning and knows that the recent iterations of the Flops weren’t winners. That makes him dishonest. How about that “full throttle” comment. Was that honest?

    At the end of the day you have to be able to score runs. We had a problem with that towards the end of last year. We are far worse in that regard this year. I think 85-86 wins is about right. And again no playoffs.

    IMO FWar is somebody’s estimate of value. It represents POTENTIAL, not data. It’s not meaningless but I do take it with a grain of salt. I also think that WINNING means competing for a ring nearly every year, not last place or middle of the pack finishes. I don’t think you believe that we were “winning” when we were mediocre at best. Last year was an improvement but no one expected us to WIN a ring or really even compete for one. I doubt very much if Henry thinks that winning means third place finishes. Therefore imo he is being DISHONEST at best and certainly on the cheap side.

    I think Henry is dishonest. If you say you are committed to winning but fail to try your best to make that happen and you have the resources to do it, then you are being dishonest.

    I was being a bit sarcastic. No, we don't spend like a small market team, but as a percentage of revenue we do. We agree that more should be spent, for whatever that is worth.
