  1. Hey, if theyre too sensitive to take criticism, warranted or not, imagine what itll be like up in Boston. Having said that, Im rooting for both but think Bradley should be given the benefit of the doubt because if Sizemore's comeback hits a snag it might put a bad taste in Bradley's mouth if they say, "hey buddy we need ya now". More than anything though Bradley needs to do better. He did have a great two run hit today on what was his weakness last year, the inside pitch. I realize what the article says about there being no room for both but is that true because I can see a three way sharing of RF and CF with Sizemore, Bradley, and Victorino.
  2. Im all for letting the youngsters pitch. For one thing its valuable experience, two, its the only time Farrell gets to see them and three, because we played in the WS, our pitchers threw more than any other pitchers not counting injuries, something that may add up at the end of the year.
  3. Seems that the Marlins were pissed that the Sox only played prospects today. That had me wondering if only we are playing the prospects and is that the reason for our losing record?
  4. What, you cant pitch a simulated game on DL? It sounds like a deep cut with a large bandage that he'll have to wear so wont be able to wear a glove very well. I have no problem with it though, more work for the young guns and more rest for the old guns.
  5. Thanks again. I just might have to do that.
  6. Yeah without Lavs pitch blocking we very well could have blown it. Having said that it was a nice win with good showings from XB and JBJ. Edit - BTW Mr seabeachfred, Im wondering how is the online baseball? I live in Texas so cant see the Sox, do you recommend it? Thanks in advance.
  7. Like WMB, Lavarnway deserves a chance to redeem himself. Not because of any fairness or anything, just to actually know what youve got. He may never be a great defensive guy but could be a good pitch caller whom the pitchers feel comfortable with.
  8. I would love to see JBJ as our future leadoff hitter. However right now I see him filling greatly as the 9th batter because if gets on you got a man on with the leadoff hitter coming up.
  9. I wonder how a Bradley/Nava, 1-2 punch would work at the top of the lineup? That'd be some good OBP power for Pedroia, Papi and Napoli.
  10. I agree but if Middlebrooks doesnt produce, Im ready to see me some Cechinni. They say hes the Wade Boggs type, very high average, though without alot of power. He went 2-3 today
  11. Cheers! Trust me, I want your hopes and dreams to come true too, as well as alot of these other prospects, but I think its better to take it slower. Other than the reason I mentioned, theres they just won a WS where they delivered, there and all year long and another is that time is on the Red Sox side, so no need to rush things.
  12. You dont want to disrespect your veterans only to put them higher if the youngsters dont work out. Thats just...no. Edit-My prediction is Victorino, Pedroia, Papi, Napoli, Nava/Gomes, XB, AJ, WMB, JBJ
  13. Many things went right but that's what happens on championship teams. The Red Sox are no different. I see it more like people playing to their potential not beyond it.
  14. Pierzynski is not unproductive. He'll be more clutch than Salty. But the Red Sox are more about building a good team not just this year but in the coming years. We have alot of young blood ready for their shot and a slew of good prospects in the waiting. Because of that we probably have enough cash to plug any holes we need to fill during the year. That we won a WS in what was supposed to be just the beginning of rebuilding says the Yanks should be scared.
  15. Ditto. Id love us to be set up with a great long term catcher
  16. I think he may be talking about the media. I saw some article calling him selfish for talking about it. Im more of a keep things quiet kind of guy but I give Papi alot (putting it mildly) of leeway and hes absolutely right. Hes been a hell of alot more valuable than a slew of other guys are to their teams but gets a fraction of the pay and Papi is only asking for a year. Can you say "first WS win in 81 years"? Pay the man and while your at it pay Lester and lets get this season started.
  17. I agree and think another starter shouldnt be ruled out.
  18. What Ive read, the players want him back but Cher and Farr are ready to move on. I think the pitchers want him because hes a decent fielder. Thats why I like him.
  19. But in the end is better for the Sox and think that was a part of his decision.
  20. So right off the bat Peavey gets an injury and Dempster leaves. Do we now need another starter?
  21. Yeah, I dont see why people call him dumb when hes freeing up money for us. Hes doing us a favor and people call him dumb. To me it sounds pretty darn selfless.
  22. I dont think he'll get more than two if he signs here. Not with Cecchini in waiting. To me he would be a good buffer for the transition of the new guys. I get a sense that Farrell and Cherington want new guys but also want them to be around proven players to learn from. In the end though its no big deal, signing or not signing Drew is not going to make or break a season. Unless they sign him for 3 years or more. Then Ill be scratching my head
  23. I doubt that if Drew signs it will be for backup. Not saying its out of the realm of possibility but seems to me that there must be someone somewhere who could use a decent and proven SS to start. I also dont think he should play other positions because his value is D more than O so it would be more of a waste for him to play second or third. If he comes back WMB will get some shots but may be odd man out.
  24. Whether you end up right or wrong, saying to 'hell with it' is not a sound way to go about decision making. More times than not that kind of thinking is going to fail. Especially after winning the WS. I personally dont want to discard players who won it for us while giving it to those who didnt, unprotected. The truth is, the jury is still out on WMB. I looked at his minor league stats and wasnt overwhelmed at all. One year he had 23 HR's and a .285 BA, which is great, but only had a .328 OBP with 114 SO's. This was in 2011 his last full season. I dont like that line with this Sox team. Id rather have a player with less holes than WMB, even if we give up on some of his power.
