  1. Lets hope the Sox learned their lesson from the failed attempt last off season in getting a true number 1. I kind of think the trade route, over throwing big $$$$$ at a FA is the way to go for the Sox.
  2. Is this a guy who has finally found something, or is it a pitcher who is doing something for a team out of contention in September? It has been a special September for him.
  3. He would be a good #5 who eats innings. Unless he is needed as a piece to get top of the rotation pitching you can't go wrong with him as your 5.
  4. I agree. BC didn't leave the cupboard empty. Fix the pitching this off season and the Sox will be competitive next year. At minimum a number one starter and three or four arms for the bullpen. Hopefully, the Porcello and others better showing means they have figures things out.
  5. I agree. Based on the current rooster and minor league rankings player development is something the Sox have done right over the last few years. Hopefully, this keeps that going. I think it works for what DD wants as a GM.
  6. Moncada and Espinosa are two that I would put in that class. Then only move Devers or Benintendi if it brought back a true #1 starter.
  7. Castillo looks pretty good so far in left.
  8. Of the pitchers on the 2015 Sox I think Porcello and Rodriguez are the only two sure bets to be in the 2016 rotation. Buchholz is a big question because of the health issue. Owens will start 2016 in AAA unless he is traded. Barnes will be tried again in the bullpen. Not sold on Kelly yet, and could be a piece to get a true number 1 back. Miley could be a 5 or he could get traded.
  9. Watching the kids play is what is keeping the loyal Sox fans watching. Seeing the Betts, Bogaerts and Rodriguez play well gives you hope for the future. I don't mind the losing as much if you can see a rebuild with hope.
  10. Many said Renteria would not survive in Boston. There is a big difference playing in Tampa then in Boston and we saw a never comfortable Crawford. Hanley was a DH that got hurt playing LF. An Panda shines in October and there will be no October this year.
  11. I also would not mind seeing Price in Boston, but not at 30 million a year. Those large contracts are also a problem in the long term. There is no way players can live up to them. Price is the one top FA that DD knows. Cueto scares me because I could see him getting a big contract then have problems with injuries. I don't know if Greinke has what it takes to pitch in Boston. An Zimmermann probably is the least talented of the four. Those are top FA pitchers.
  12. This is the same thing we have been saying for the last few seasons.
  13. ERod will be in the mix for rotation spot. I can see Owens if he is still with the organization start at AAA and be one of the first to be called up. A true ace is still number one priority for DD. Followed by rebuilding the bullpen and figuring what to do with Hanley.
  14. DD better fix this bullpen. The 2015 version has been painful to watch. How many games has the bullpen blown?
  15. Similar to the FO going after DD when the Tigers let him go, when O'Brien became available he became the target.
  16. Another double for Bradley today as he pitch hit. As happy as most are to see him hit, very surprised of the power. Its good to see.
  17. FO has said once they figure out where each will play they will remain there both at home and on the road unless there are injuries. They are still weighing their options.
  18. I would say no. His best pitch has been the change up. He has had a hard time controlling his fast ball and that is the reason his walks are up. That is a similar problem that Lester had when he came up. Owens personality based on what I've seen and heard is that he doesn't let things bother him. Of the two Rodriguez is your power arm.
  19. FO hasn't decided on the positioning of the outfielders yet. I do think Castillo will end up in LF. The bottom line is its not a problem the Sox should worry about.
  20. I think the more AB gets the higher his on base percentage will be. Betts leads the team in SBs and he hits a lot of doubles. I think he will grow into the lead off spot.
  21. Word is Castillo has been taking balls in LF. Castillo in LF is a good move. Who plays CF between Betts and Bradley?
  22. Porcello has to do what Miley did a good part of the season. Eat innings and keep the Sox in the game.
  23. I think Panda is having a bad defensive season and can still play 3B, but HRam no longer can field. He is a DH! This first base thing you have to try to open up playing time for Castillo and Bradley. I still think the best move is to trade him to someone who needs a DH and eat a lot of $$$$$$$. Addition by subtraction.
  24. Owens walks are a problem. Four more again last night. That change up is a keeper though. If you recall Lester when he first came up he had a high walk total. He doesn't throw hard , but he still has to control the fastball to be able to go deeper into the game.
  25. The Cardinals seem to know when to move guys. Who could have seen Craig's ability to hit big league pitching disappear like it did. I think the Cards knew that Kelly was a starter trapped in a relievers body. The Sox can only hope that he continues to have strong outings the rest of 2015 and give them another chip to bring back an ace.
