  1. Dombrowski could put his first stamp on the Sox by having Ramirez get some time at first as the Sox play out the season. HE CANNOT BE YOUR STARTING LF IN 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least you have a better idea if he can handle the position. I still think he is a DH that the Sox need to move and eat what ever $$$$$$ they have to.
  2. Pedroia's defense makes him valuable to the Sox. It to is a piece to improving the pitching. The problem moving forward is keeping him in the lineup. I don't see the Sox moving him until Moncada is ready though. They are not opening up a spot for Holt at second. Like I've said in the past Holt is not an every day player and is more valuable in the roll he is in.
  3. Koji was one of Ben Cher's better transactions. Brought in as depth he became the shut down closer one needs to win a championship.
  4. If JBJ finishes the season looking like he has finally found it, I can't see moving him. He doesn't have to be the hitter he was last week to be a piece to improving the Sox pitching. The amount of runs he saves with the glove would make up for him hitting in the .250 area. I would only move him if he is part of a trade to bring in a true top of the rotation starter.
  5. If you remember he wasn't brought here as a closer, and I don't think anyone predicted he would do what he did. I will give some credit to Ben Cher for resigning him last winter. Not everyone was on the same page with that one. Koji continued to be effective until the injury. The only problem is that is one of the few moves he made that had any success the last two years.
  6. I agreed with you then, and moving forward Holt is much more effective when not playing every day. With that said he can fill in for longer stretches when players go down. He is a valuable piece to the Sox rebuild for 2016.
  7. This will be interesting to see how this changes the approach to fix the pitching. Will Dombrowski be able to do things Ben Cher wasn't? DD has been known to use the farm system as a way to get the pieces his team needs. His approach has been so different then what we have seen the Sox do over the last half dozen years. Should be interesting. I will make this prediction, the Sox will have a true ace when they open 2016.
  8. Pedro had some of the best pitched baseball seasons in history.
  9. The Sox are probably hoping they can find a taker for him this winter.
  10. If the guy hits .250 he will win many gold gloves.
  11. Pedroia's durability is starting to become an issue. I love the guy and the way he plays the game, but he is having a hard time staying on the field. That may be because of the way he plays.
  12. Back to Castillo: Starting to show some power. Hopefully, it is enough that it merits what the Sox are paying him.
  13. JBJ's offensive out put the last few weeks raises the question: part of 2016 plans or a trade chip to rebuild the pitching.
  14. I would be in favor if this would come to be. Ramirez at 3B is probably the best option. He is a DH and probably get ABs there, but he will have to play some in the field as well.
  15. I could see this, but having the D in the outfield of Betts and JBJ would be great. JBJ hits at all he is a gold glove candidate every year.
  16. After pitching, finding a place for Ramirez to play is the next biggest problem. Last night was just another example of how bad he is out in left field. He makes Manny look like a gold glover. The amount of runs allowed because of his poor play in left field is much greater then what he has produced at the plate. He is a DH.
  17. Holt's second half decline for the second straight season shows he is not an every day player. Used too much his numbers decline. Don't see the Sox moving Pedroia. Maybe down the road when Moncada is ready that may happen, but that is a couple of years away.
  18. Looks like Sox will wait to hotstove to work on pitching problems.
  19. I don't think Melancon would ever have the success under the bright lights of Boston that he has in Pittsburgh. Not everyone can play in Boston. Not resigning Miller was a mistake. Power arm out of the bullpen and your future closer. Not resigning really hurt the 2015 bullpen.
  20. Watched a lot of $panks and Jays over the weekend. Donaldson should have been the 3B we went after last off season. The Sox could have given the A's a lot more then the Jays did. For 2016 the Sox have a lot of work to do. 1) Top of the rotation starter 2) Rebuild the bullpen 3) Figure out where Ramirez will play in 2016 4) If no one emerges in the corner outfield spots these final two months it may be a need (It would be nice if Castillo or Bradley emerged) 4) I think 3B will be Sandoval or Ramirez (No way they can move both so one of them will be there)
  21. Everything I here no Ramirez at 1B in the last two months. If you plan on potentially moving him there in 2016 wouldn't you do it these last two months of 2015? Or they have already decided they don't want him involved in that many plays during the game and don't want him at first. I think you will see a platoon of Shaw and Craig the rest of the season. Masterson was just designated to clear a spot on the 40 man.
  22. I think if the Sox where more competitive in the three non-championship seasons then BC would get a little more credit for 2013. This team this year has been hard to watch.
  23. As important as offense is to have in your catcher, it will be even more important that they effectively work with the revised 2016 pitching staff. I think you keep building for 2016 with Swihart catching as much as possible. No one knows when Vazquez will be ready. Who ever the Sox put at catcher for 2016 needs to be working from Day 1 in spring training. Swihart is learning on the job and his final numbers this year should not reflect what his numbers will be moving forward.
  24. Have any of the decisions made on players this FO have made the last two seasons worked? If so they have to be below .200 on making good decisions.
  25. It was always a mystery how much power Lucchino had in baseball related decisions. If the Sox didn't win in 2013 I think anyone who replaces him would probably can BC and Farrell and bring in his own people. Before the next rebuild begins this question needs to be answered.
