I agree with the timeline. Maybe 2 more rehab starts at the most if he is feeling good. Any more would be a waste of time for our HOFamer.

From Houck ? Yes I expected big things from him. I like what Chaim is doing here as well but lots of good stuff was also done before his arrival.

Sale is an incredible competitor. We were fortunate to get him in trade, fortunate to sign him up as well. I cannot wait to see him return. I think that I might be as confident as he is that his return will be just what we want to see.

There were numerous people here who spoke their minds with respect to what his future might be. His build led some to say that at some point in time he would be best suited to play first base. Looks to me like he is in excellent shape. He is a star. Leave him alone and once again enjoy him while we have him.

I also think that Cora has made a significant difference but i was glad to hear that Bloom did not simply rubber stamp his return. Looks like he is in charge. I've never really paid much attention to any of the gm's that we have had other than to simply argue about them but this guy is different. i'm not giving him more credit than I think he deserves but so far so very very good.

I'm thinking that it is likely that most people grossly under estimated what this team was capable of accomplishing. Certainly I did. If Bloom gets the bulk of the credit then I am on board. He has done something that I have not seen and did not see coming. If he is capable of doing what he has done on an on going basis, it looks as though it would be financially bad business to throw a bunch of money at anybody long term. Even the Red Sox with their somewhat open ended budget have no need. John Henry should pay Bloom the big bucks I guess and let him do his thing. Ownership likely as well as the fan base will get a huge win. Now - I was watching the game yesterday and paid particular attention to Devers. I still chuckle when i think of the people who wanted and likely still do him to be moved to first base. he is physically fit and that won't change unless he allows it to happen. We should enjoy him while we have him.

Are you telling me here that as a youngster you never had to save a broken bat with a few well placed screws covered with that good old black tape that we always had plenty of? Oh and most of us golfer guys still call our metals woods. lol

yes I do agree. This team has changed gm's on a consistent basis. Although they have been well paid for their efforts, I do sense that in part they have served as scapegoats.

I'm a huge fan of consistency when it proves successful. When an abrupt change occurs in anything that I am familiar with, I tend to get suspicious of what might have caused the change.

Bloom's path might be different and I hope that it is the right path. Personally I am and have been satisfied with the approach of the various GMs who have had great success here. It probably is satisfying to the fans here who think that their personal baseball philosophies coincide with the current leadership. I believe that it has been proven that there is more than one way to get a job done. In terms of gms, I don't give any thought at all as to who did what before the current guy. He has the job thus I am a fan.

I agree. The older I get, the tougher accepting change becomes. Part of that is the age thing but a good chunk of it is that I am still not convinced that just changing makes things better. I don't think that I will ever get to a point where I can see the logic, financial or otherwise, in losing a player like Betts. That being said, a love of the game and of course the Red Sox is inbred to this guy from rural Maine. I tried not to follow them, but it hasn't worked. It is what I have done every summer since the mid 1950's. There are too many things to like about these guys not to follow them. I'm thinking that Bobby Dalbec has a chance to become another big contributor very soon.

This is a good post that relates to much more than a simple baseball game or two. Since the world of athletics certainly including baseball has turned more and more political, I have lost interest more and more in a game that I have always loved dearly. It is all ok though, it simply seems to just be the way life is these days.

Houck deserves to be with the big club. His talent should be more important than whatever his options might be. Oh well, we all know it is about the budget right. lol Seriously, he has earned the right to be there.

Well ok - my point is that he could not have been paid enough prior to as well as after the extension. I believe that any talk of what he earns is silly talk. He earned it and for those concerned about his future, I believe that he will continue to earn it.

Chris Sale is one of the great pitchers of this current era. He has been and will be I believe will once again that good. Now I realize that you are all right about the Red Sox group led by John Henry being absolutely financially strapped for cash. Clearly we have fallen off the cliff and into the chasm of penney pitch city but I still believe that signing him will prove to be money well spent. Oh wait, it already has been.
