  1. garbage? Keep blatting away. You don't chum the waters quite as well as your little friend.
  2. I was an English/History guy. I try to be concise and clear. When i post, feel free to ask for clarification if you like. I don't think that you will need to.
  3. I know you do. I actually was referring to people processing the posts of others.
  4. Any real baseball fan agrees with you I hope. When I was young, the game meant less but it was much more significant. It is like the voting on every foolish reality show that we have now. It is a sad sign of the times.
  5. Your point is well taken here. I know that I don't have to tell you that I would guess that there isn't a lot of real thought going into anyone 's posts here unless they can be turned inflammatory. I agree with you - Bogaerts is an all-star but I can understand why he isn't going to the game.
  6. Jack squat. Good one. I don't call people out. I asked SK a question. I'm pretty sure he at least has heard of Hernandez. The only point I was trying to make was that I find it interesting that so few people who claim to know so much have no clue as to who the player is who is quite possibly playing the best baseball of anyone in our minor league system. You can bitch all you want to about that one but it is a fact.
  7. It's all about people's opinions. I'm pretty comfortable with mine. Based on the performances of all of the young players in our farm system, I would say that we are just loaded up fine with lots of fringe prospects. I just happen to like the guys who are playing the best.
  8. Another very good outing by Owens last night. Now I get it - With Kelly getting hurt the other night it makes all the sense in the world to leave these guys (Johnson - Owens - Wright ) in Pawtucket. The Pawsox need the good arms more than the big club needs them.
  9. Once again just for the record - it's the players!
  10. sk - You write as though you might know something about what is going on in our farm system. Why do I find it unbelievable that people who certainly sound like they know something have never heard of Hernandez? He is having as good a year as any player at any level. A 22 year old getting no love. Sad.
  11. I do - and you are wrong. Never said he was key piece but a possible piece.
  12. Hernandez+Margot+one of (Johnson-Wright-Barnes-Owens) = 1 good starting pitcher possibly. Agree?Disagree? i feel like I am beating a dead horse.
  13. I would try to keep Guera(sp?) I think if possible even though he is a ss.
  14. Thanks for posting this. I have been trying to say this on the minor league thread but I guess I haven't been clear enough. Hernandez (sad that many posters here have not heard of him}+ Margot+ the next one could be picked from the young potential starters (Johnson,Wright, Owens, Barnes) might create an attractive package. I know that you are familiar with Hernandez so before anyone goes into attack mode check him out. Not bad for 22 year old.
  15. I think that maybe you are missing my point. I'm pretty sure Hernandez will never play in Boston because he is a ss. In terms of being a "prospect", you can call him fringe if you like. There is no one having a better year than he is in either Pawtucket or Portland. I don't consider that fringe. Margot may become what people think he might. He hasn't just yet. Hernandez is tradeable along with Margot. That is the point - that and I was a little surprised that people had not even heard of the player having the beat season for our franchise at both the AAA and AA levels.
  16. Hernandez = .330 with 3 more hits last night.
  17. In terms of the hype and all of the build up i would agree with that. It still probably might depend on what you are looking for in a player and what your team needs are. Potential outfielder vs potential shortstop. Many of our prospects fall into a long line of "we think that they are going to be better than they ever become" category. I'd like to see Margot become what everybody thinks that he might. For now Margot
  18. I didn't and i don't. Personally i don't think Shaw should have ever seen the field. It just was an interesting move that i am surprised did not bring out the Farrell critics. If those games had been losses he would have caught the fire once again.
  19. And along with Margot you got two might be good enoughs someday.
  20. Hey - i think this has gotten a little over thought. Winning is good but it is still strange when you bench a player for not be able to hit, replace him with a player who gets three hits and then you bench him. Getting De Aza in the lineup makes sense but thinking that Ortiz is going to be playing first base regularly at his age, injury history, and fitness level is ridiculous. The point i was kind of trying to make was that in a given week we could see any number of what might seem like strange moves coming from John Farrell. I'm very happy that they are winning. i will be more direct next time. That being said, i am not one of the vast majority of people on this board who have been crapping all over Farrell and his staff.
  21. The question really was - Why was he not in the lineup the second night after getting the 3 hits? I don't think he provides an answer to any questions this team has but it is still a strange way to use your players. I really don't worry too much about the future of Travis Shaw. It was at least good to see him at first base as opposed to another position that he has seldom if ever played.
  22. There is no questioning that he is just a step above adequate. Why was he in the lineup last night? It is an odd way to use players.
  23. Very true. My point was and is that for every Margot that we have heard so much about there is a good chance that there is and will be someone else that comes along who will be every bit as good. Hernandez is an example of a potentially good major league ss who is having a very good year at the AA level. He is an All-Star and we have "fans" here who claim to know something about the Red Sox younger players but yet have literally never heard of this kid. Go figure. I'm not sure that I will live long enough to see either of these two in Red Sox uniforms.
  24. Are you saying that ortiz is starting at first as in tonight? Shaw gets last night's start, gets 3 hits and sits?
  25. The term "rake" doesn't do the Sox teams in that era justice. How good were they top to bottom!
