I would not trade him for a rental by any means but i am still looking for those guys who said he was a top of the rotation prospect.. Mid-rotation potential yes - top?

Man this Hernandez kid just doesn't get it. He is a non-legit prospect. He is so far behind the chosen few, that he isn't even on the radar screen. Maybe we will just wind up having to keep him. Leading the league in hitting. 2 for 2 in the All-Star game last night including a dinger. All-Star game MVP! Damn lucky season for this guy!

Owens is good for a couple of walks over the course of 7 innings or so. Moncada has started to hit a little and Guerra continues to look like a good one. Owens might provide some middle of the rotation help for us someday. There are no "prospects" in the minors that are playing so well that they come with a can't miss label. For the right player or players, a trade could really help.

I would not trade Betts and i would not trade XB - means you have a pant load of prospects that someone thinks are going to be great who will eventually play ss and any of the 3 outfield positions. to get Gray (which ain't happening) I trade any of the rest except E-Rod.

I'm one of them. Most teams realize that in today's market, you will be paying for very little at the ends of many of these big contracts. With respect to Jon Lester, I'm trying to give them credit for not being stupid. They gambled and lost. -
You are a good kid. No one is 100% right about anything. If you are willing to listen to the points of view of many different people, you never know what you might learn. Respecting someone whom you disagree with is a concept that most people just don't like. It is particularly obvious when you don't have to see the person you are talking to. Learn as much as you can, then form your own opinions. You are not letting someone speak for you - I like that.

I also hope greatly that they do not sign someone unless that person is signed beyond next season. I would feel a little better if I felt that the current team had shown that they can come from behind to win games a little more often. They have had chances but something seems to be missing. It just doesn't feel right.

So who are you going to believe these days right? Who are you going to hang your hat? I would have felt a lot better then and I would feel a lot better now if they had gone out and gotten that one pitcher that everyone seems to have known then and now they we need. Goes without saying that we need that pitcher now. We might even need more than one.

We need a veteran presence at the top of the rotation who can pitch just a little. In a perfect world said pitcher would be under 30 and signed for a long time. The world isn't perfect the Red Sox have the money and the prospects to make any deal that they want to make. They have proven over and over by their actions that money is not a major factor. They talk fiscal responsibility and that's it. -
An accurate statement. Some good athletes but a number could be blocked for a long time. Keeping gym eye on Guerra's development even though he is a ss.

Maybe the "experts" should be held accountable if their suggestions were somewhat responsible for the way this team was assembled. bring in a new group of analysts.

I can only speak for myself and in all honesty i made no study of the Yankees and their potential for this season. I have nothing to say really about Cashman. i don't see any team in the aLe as really being all that good. Good fortune - good breaks - call it what you like, most of the time it isn't really luck at all. I got caught up in the emotion of the moment. This is not a good baseball team. We have a short list of good young players with a few more with pretty good potential just on the outside looking in. Note - I did not say that all of our players are bad. It is a bad team in need of something more that just a quick fix.

What is very frustrating for me is that the pitching situation was predictable. -
Too many unrealistic expectations to start the season with. A lot of assumptions that probably should not have been made. I never really get the feeling that this team has much of a chance of coming back when they fall behind. I wanted to believe in all of the positive thinking points of view but once again there were just too many question marks. We have some good young players but this team is a long ways away from being a good team. It is not a quick fix.

I'm here because I can't sleep anymore and I don't want to do my yard work. The positive side of this is that when I was younger, I never would have had the time to do this. Now I do.

Buchholz is fortunate that he has been playing for a team that can afford him. If you are satisfied with what you are going to get from him and can afford him which obviously the Sox can than fine - keep him. You just clearly can't depend on him staying healthy. You have to have a secondary plan ready to go if he stays.

Ok - I will concede - big friend ? You should take it as a compliment. You are without question the best "chummer" of waters "stirrer" of pots on this board. You provide a source of entertainment that allows me to waste all of this time on the computer. It's a good thing that I am retired. You humor me almost as much as all of my pain in the ass friends do up here on a daily basis.

I want to be clear here - just my opinion once again- He has performed at the major league level well already. He is costing the club more money. He is a better player than Shaw will ever be. Ortiz does not want to play first base and shouldn't because there is a very good chance that he will get injured if he does. Hanley Ramirez won't be going there until next year at the earliest. It 's time to consider someone other than Napoli. Personally, I don't want to see Holt become an everyday first baseman. I think it is time to give Craig a shot. Oh yeah - I don't want to see Nava there.

Allen Craig continues to hit in Pawtucket. First base for the big club has to be right around the corner.
