They don't know what they are missing.
  3. I agree - i would be better off just listening to him. They told us he was good.
  4. I kind of liked JBJ's rip hit. How about that guy on the mound. Been a while! He looks good just standing there.

  7. Most of us could stand a little slurp of that Kool aid from time to time. For sure if you live in New England. Nice drive into Boston yesterday.
  8. I like this post. You all alright. All of us come across this way from time to time. Fewer of us would ever admit it.
  9. Sweet Lou! - his temperament was anything but sweet
  10. ok then - holt it is
  11. I'm a little confused with whatever the plan for Castillo might be. Nothing else the club has done from signings to players playing seems even unusual to me. All moves looked like common sense moves. Castillo looked like a lock to start in left now basically he is on the outside looking in. I get the fact that he has not hit this spring but he can field his position. Do people think that Holt represents our left fielder going forward. He is a great utility player for sure but really - our starting left fielder. If Young is going to only hit against lefties, I can't imagine that this is the end of what will happen in left. Castillo is what 29/30 now? Times a-waistin for him I'm afraid. I guess that in his case it does make sense to me that he starts in left at least initially to really see what he has. By the Red Sox not doing this, is it a sign that they realize that the signing was not a good one? Are they done with him really? His story is not Pablo's. FTR, I'm ok with them being done with him, but I don't think Holt is our answer in left.
  12. Young guy who has shown some interesting potential. It might work out for him. He has earned the opportunity. It beats playing foolish little games like the one played with Pablo. One of the last things to worry about when camp starts, is whether or not your professionals are in reasonably decent shape.
  13. Because of his age, Porcello still has a chance. It really is pretty doubtful that he ever will be worth what the Red Sox gave him in terms of dollars and years. Paying him this amount of money based on the way he has pitched, is at least slightly better than the Pablo signing. Wish that I could have had their agents working for me. good thing the Sox got the loot.
  14. Pablo gets what Pablo earned and the Red sox do not become ml laughing stock once again. Poor past signings and trending toward playing people who just haven't earned the right to be out there is not a formula for success. Pablo will get his chance, we'll see how badly he wants to be on this team. Shaw will play some third, a little at first and possibly even dhing. there will will plenty of opportunities for Pablo.
  15. From your perspective, I understand where you are coming from. I imagine that it is concerning to you. The other side of that coin is that there are many people who do not see these changes as dramatic philisophical changes. Personally I think that there is still plenty of work to be done, but I like what I have seen so far. I certainly recognize the importance of depth and the significance of a strong bench. Trying to convince players who have earned the right to start that they would be better served by playing backup roles to someone who they have outplayed is not as easy as it sounds. From the outside, it might look like it is better for the team, but to most players looking at things that way might work for a while but not for long.
  16. I forget to mention Castillo's situation. Did not see that one coming.
  17. Ok - I may regret this but here goes. What do you think that they have done other than make one trade (you have been very clear about your feelings about that trade) that has long term ramifications? Benching Sandoval and starting Shaw? A philosophical change with respect to not letting the size or length of a players contract dictate playing time? the fact that Ben is no longer with us? The free agent signing of Price? Do you honestly think that the Price signing will have a negative impact on who or who they will not be able to acquire in the future?
  18. green bottle?
  19. creative - lol
  20. Kids today - they have their fun.
  21. Oh I don't bring it up really with any expectations just to kind of drum up some enthusiasm for the kids. Have to be realistic but for a kid his age with what he has I am very happy that he is ours.
  22. Watched the video of Espinoza today. He has the goods! 95-98 mph fastball with a 76mph change up or curve depending on what he wants to throw. At his age, his progress will be fun to watch. He doesn't look like a skinny kid.
  23. bud on tap does not work well for me.
  24. yup - not sure if any of us could have ponied up much more back in the day.
