  1. Moving Devers up was the logical move. When any move is made, people get to think whatever they want about the need for or the reason for it. i guess if it works out, you get to call it a good move and if it doesn't, you get to call it whatever you like. it was the right move that showed some common sense in this case. if anything, it also tells me that we might have some others in our system that may be just as valuable to us as we move forward. i am not sold on the idea that any of our current position players are that much better than some of our guys still beating it around in the minors.
  2. it's about that pitching ultimately! Ours could be the best from top to bottom!
  3. little man complex you think?
  4. crap! (Is that word ok to use here?)
  5. i wonder if shaugnessey (sp) will come up with a hot story about Dever's dietary habits. Just something to keep us involved and moving on.
  6. Or any of our other guys that are listed as 6'2" and above. is Ben responsible for drafting all of the little guys or was that Larry? couldn't have been Theo. Who drafted henry owens? he is a tall one anyway.
  7. Are you kidding me - I don't even dare comment on a real rainbow when I see them these daze! And DAZE is in fact what I mean.
  8. 3. both of the above
  9. larry - are you a Red Sox fan?
  10. Ya - maybe we could return Kimbrel and Sale. I would love to have me some Espinoza, Margot, Dubon, and Moncada as opposed to those two stiffs. lol
  11. I will say seriously though that this is what we have become. Anything goes. Say what you want, do what you want, and expect to get what you want when you want it. No amount of pretending to be above it all by anyone is going to change things either. You can tweet, twit, or post anything that you want to anytime you want to. it is a whole new world. This is one of the reasons why I hate to see any changes to the game of baseball. i still think that some things are better left alone.
  12. That's queer! oh wait in our politically correct world you can't say that word at all can you?
  13. The under peformance of all of our guys is just killing me here though. That might seem just a little sarcastic i guess. I have contended for quite some time that although we might think that these boys are capable of more, this might actually be closer to who they are as a group. Nunez and Devers have certainly given our stagnant offense a lift. More power is still needed in this lineup.
  14. The era of the new fan is upon us. Nothing is acceptable unless a championship is won. It was never like that for me. For many many years I had the feeling that we were going to compete. it takes so much more than just stockpiled talent to win a World Series. Of course I always that it was a lot tougher before the current expansion to the playoff contenders. This represents a dummying down of the significance of the regular season for me. It is all about the $ today as well as the instant gratification. I like the whole concept of fielding a team that can be competitive year in and year out. i hate the concept of watching 2.3, or whatever horrible seasons followed by a World Series win every now and then. If this were the way it was, I'm afraid that I would stop watching them. It is all about the hunt for me. A summer's worth of entertainment.
  15. This Giant's fan is feeling great about the upcoming season and its' possibilities.
  16. when you are all 5'6" and might weigh in at 150 it won't make much difference-lol
  17. Slasher - good to hear from you - give me some Pom Pom love. I only want to watch our guys when either Sale or the Pom Pom have the ball. It is sad. i need a lighter mood. I am rappelling slowly down the cliff of oblivion dreaming dreams of mindless statistical jibber jabber. help me
  18. We'll have to ask Spud and a700 but I think that Quackenbush might be a cousin of that old sawbones Dr. Phillip McKrackin.
  19. You know him too?
  20. Punching a clock means literally punching the clock these daze!!! I wonder if Quackenbush is the same doc that told us Sandoval's body was comprised of 18% body fat before the great unveiling
  21. I'm giving you good credit for this one because it sounds like someone who actually played the game. Unless you have actually been close to situations like this, you really have no idea what it means to have that one special player in your lineup that every opponent fears to pitch to. it can influence an opponent's entire approach to how you are going to pitch to a club. From a fan's perspective, it is kind of like the anticipatory feeling of waiting every 5th day for Sale to pitch. Ortiz represented that one guy for Boston.
  22. I would not trade anyone in our system currently who is capable of possibly hitting as many as 15 plus home runs per year. I would not trade Chavis. He can hit - we need hitters. I'm not in love with really any of the current players on our everyday roster. Devers is young and of course worth keeping - anybody else right now is fair game for the right return.
  23. Just a few of his have really seen this. Every now and then a guy like betts comes along or you get a player like pedroia who swings out of his Keesta on every pitch and people forget that yes size does matter.(easy Spud) We've been drafting midgets for years and lying about their stats.
  24. i love Moncada still because of his incredible athleticism primarily but I'll take Sale over him anyday obviously. i really like Devers and hope he is the hard worker that people have said he is. I also like Benintendi but if anyone thinks that he is 5'!0 and weighing in at 175+ they are still nuts. We aren't talking Yaz. here!
  25. ok - now we are talking. You two guys are both great and you are killing me here. Great entertainment. This is what this forum should be all about. We all need to laugh more!
