  1. Ain't that the truth. You ain't just ashittin bisquits. I'm thinking that I might be pretty close to the top of the list. All in good fun.
  2. Is that a new word - i like it
  3. ok that was a hard couple of hits good to see forgot to say about mighty f***ing time
  4. How's Richards feeling right now - walking JBJ
  5. Now we are ripping it lol- let's go JBJ
  6. Oh wait one more thing - You are just a proverbial pain in the ass. LOL
  7. I don't find that condescending at all. I don't find you condescending . I think that what you have said is good advice. Condescending is a tough assed word these days. I far prefer humble myself.
  8. Moon - please I was not talking about you. We've done this dance and I understand where you are coming from. I will just say that I have been posting here for a number of years and I really like Spud. He is unique for sure but he is a good one. The condescension factor goes a helluva lot deeper than anything that you might say. Half the time if I told you my exact feelings you would say the same thing about me. Spud surely doesn't need me to defend him. He tells it like he sees it and at times in amusing ways. He states his opinions succinctly and in very colorful ways often but I don't sense much of a mean bone in that body. Not my battle but I don't like seeing two good baseball people squaring off like this. You are both needed. If I was to tell you that after a lifetime of playing teaching and coaching that in all honesty I think that I know more about the game than anyone who has simply studied the game from an analytical point of view- of which I am personally sure of - would that sound condescending to you? My guess is that it probably would. Maybe I should say that but I certainly wouldn't mean it. wink wink
  9. Hey these guys are surer than s*** going to hit though right. Mookie at least hit it hard. Vazquez had a nice at bat but that was no shot by any means. Tiresome!
  10. I like this lineup primarily because I think a pattern is being established. Everybody gets a little rest!
  11. Is the Bowling Masters being played this weekend? Do you have to still set your own pins? lol
  12. I think that it has to do much more with how an opinion is presented. No one repeat no one likes to feel as though they are experiencing any type of condescension. I don't think that you do this but it seems to happen everyday. If you feel it enough, then it really should come as no surprise that a reaction occurs.
  13. Well as far as learning some serious math skills by learning how to score, I'm all over that one. Golf not so much - 1,2,3,4,5,and an occasional 6 - easy factorin'
  14. Man I am super excited for this one. I really hope B. Johnson pitches well. I would love nothing more than to see him force his way into that regular rotation.
  15. Nice - a little Maine - Bowdoin College girl. Humble and tough. She also serves as a pretty good example to young people today that specializing simply in one sport may not be so hot after all. She was a multi sport athlete.
  16. I didn't want to offer any tidbits of wisdom based on this quote which I have read many times but oh well - You are 100% correct. What can be really amusing is what defines a hacker. Now that one is particularly relative.
  17. In Kimbrel, we are talking possibly the best or close to the best closer in the game today. If he has a year like last year, you have to make a run at him. When you have the best, I think that you have to hope that you can resign him. I'm not talking abut throwing everything that you have at the guy but you have to make a run at him. When I look at what he has meant to this team, I guess that I would have to say that outside of Sale, on the significantly important scale, he would be the next guy on my list. I think that he has been and is that important.
  18. I have believed for a long time now that unless he truly dislikes where he is playing, he's not going anywhere. You just can't tell what he might be thinking. If he has been careful just a little with the $ he has already made in the game, it very well might not be such a big deal to go some place else for happiness sake for a few less millions. He certainly has made enough to take care of his families needs forever. Now though - If he has a special season, which he could very well have, I think he will like it here just fine. Looks to me as though excellence is rewarded in Boston as much if not more than most other places. I hope Price and Sale compete in a friendly way all season long. Two gifted pitchers.
  19. You are so right there and they probably are under appreciated by a majority of people. I have been involved with athletics of one sort or another all my life and when we had two daughters one of my good friends thought that we should go for number 3 hoping for a boy for obvious at that time reasons. My response to him was why - I was pretty sure that those two girls growing up in our household would love most things sports related. They were and still are great athletes and now are raising our 5 grandchildren in homes that understand the great benefits that being invlolved in athletics can provide. 3 girls 2 boys by the way. We could not be happier. Over Easter my 6 year old wanted to show me his basketball skills and I plan to be there when he pounds out his first home run in little league some day. Great fun! Oh - by the way my Mother in Law used to hit her irons the same distance I hit mine. I was proud of her but I tried not to tell her what I was hitting on certain holes. lol
  20. I was hoping someone would help me out when I posted that. Thanks Spud - I was kind of thinking of you when I said that. I like free, I guess I have just not figured out how to do it.
  21. Gameday - think it is the way I'll be watching (sort of) the games when we go back to Florida. Don't enjoy it much but it is better than nothing plus it is still too cold for me up here. (ageing ....)
  22. Good observation - I think that for the most part you are right about that call. It's a damn demanding job camping out behind home plate day in and day out.
  23. I think that Holt would have still been out if the throw had not been on target but that was a pretty good play out there in right field. It just looked off the bat that you would probably not send the runner from second unless he had great speed. I knew that Holt was not what we would call a speedster but he did look pretty slow to me. I was surprised at that. Still could be valuable going forward but I hope for his sake that the call is a little easier when they send him next time.
  24. I'm pretty sure that I agree with all 6 of your observations. It is very early in the season for sure but I'm taking what you have written to simply be observations made after seeing them play just 4 games. Nothing wrong with that. I don't see it as a seasonal rank card just yet. Our infielders did make plays but I agree that their range as a group looks a little limited. I still think that there is great value in having guys that can make the routine plays consistently. Great range or not, you still need to make plays. Cora is going to be fine. Right now I'm sure they are going through a learning process - both players and coaches. Could be a very very good team.
