  1. Mookie is definitely worth top-of-the-market salary. Will he be worth it for 12 years, or even 6? No one knows. My biggest concern over that time is injury, not underperformance.
  2. Yes. Generally speaking, it's the pitchers who decide the outcome.
  3. That's pretty close to how I feel.
  4. I think good pitching beats bad pitching.
  5. I don't know, but I suspect those twitch reflexes were part of Aaron's success.
  6. That was the Curt Schilling credo. As a person he's nutty as a fruitcake, but he does have some pretty good baseball knowledge.
  7. And that's not on the fans, sadly. The mantra "if you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'" has never seemed more appropriate in baseball.
  8. Dalbec is a project for the 2021 season. I expect he'll see it through unless the bottom really falls out.
  9. I don't think there is one shred of empirical evidence to support the premise that Mookie will not 'age well' as a player.
  10. What a difference even a few innings can make in our perspective...
  11. We have to get to work on the pre-approved sticky stuff. Will it be doled out to pitchers in little tins before they enter the game?
  12. Also worth noting that Josh Taylor hasn't given up a run since April 24.
  13. In the immortal words of Al Davis: "Just outscore the other team, baby!"
  14. Robo ump and pitch clock are fine. But they have nothing to do with these other problems causing the fustercluck.
  15. Ah yes, back when men were men. Maybe you missed Mike Hargrove - "The Human Rain Delay".
  16. This team is going to set some sort of record for come-from-behind wins.
  17. It's how they make their living, too...
  18. Is he healthy now?
  19. The Jays looked scary when they shelled us in Games 2 and 3 of the last series. Since then they've lost 3 in a row and are back to .500. This is one crazy freaking game.
  20. The problem is that everyone inside the game knew that pitchers were using sticky stuff for a long time. What happened is that the sticky stuff science got a little too good. That's when Manfred decided something had to be done. Also worth noting that they changed the baseballs again this year, which seems to have also increased the spin rates. Attaboy, Rob! I wouldn't be surprised if what we end up with is some sort of pre-approved lower-tech sticky stuff. In the meantime, it's a fustercluck.
  21. I have to say I was impressed with Chapnan in this one. Second and third no out, it looked like he was going to blow another one, but he kept his cool, and was even smiling after the play Vlad got thrown out on.
  22. I have noticed that people are often not nice to fringe players like Weber.
  23. Now it's 7-7. They are peskier than pesky.
  24. Any response to this one, Nick?
