  1. Last 16 - 3.31 ERA And he can pitch 2 innings. Not saying he's good, but not bad for the back of the pen.
  2. I would put Verlander and Greinke in that category, but Scherzer seems like a reasonable bet.
  3. Berrios is younger, but Scherzer is still better.
  4. Workman has been somewhat useful recently. Andriese is a goner for sure.
  5. It doesn't hurt to have a little depth for injuries, if you can manage it. But with guys like Valdez and Rios stepping up, Richards could certainly be out of the picture.
  6. The back of the pen, that is. Maybe he would do better there. It's a pretty small matter one way or the other at this point.
  7. Cherry-picking for Whitlock: In his last 19 appearances, covering 29.1 innings, he has allowed 2 earned runs, for an ERA of 0.61.
  8. With my wife and me it's more like a constant standoff LOL
  9. 2 + some sort of fancy option for a third might be good.
  10. Gallo isn't under contract for 2022, it's his final arb year.
  11. Joel Sherman points out that Gallo is exactly the kind of player Cashman seems obsessed with - another big hairy monster.
  12. I don't know about the triceps issue, but assume they wouldn't trade for him if his health is in doubt at all. His contract was $210 million for 7 years with half of it deferred. Going to be an interesting two days.
  13. It's a little easier to outhit the other team when they're facing Scherzer.
  14. .379 obp .869 ops 25 hr
  15. Espinal is the guy we traded to the Jays for Steve Pearce.
  16. Productive outs by Dalbec and Duran get a run home.
  17. Yeah, if they can fit him into the numbers.
  18. Very understandable. He's one in the L column for Bloom - one of the very few.
  19. I think there's an old adage that goes something like: play .500 vs the good teams and beat up on the bad teams.
  20. I just think we have to be a little careful about getting holier-than-thou about the Astros and talking about stripping titles. There are people out there who think the Red Sox should also have forfeited their 2018 rings, and that they should never have re-hired Cora etc.
  21. The team has been winning with him behind the plate. I'd rather he not go on the IL, personally.
  22. Cora has the most info, Cora makes the calls.
