  1. I do see a difference though. One is about spending a few extra dollars. The other is about a key player's health.
  2. You can't just say "Ted Williams notwithstanding" LOL
  3. Personally I agree with notin and mvp that going over the first tax line this year shouldn't be a big deal. Chaim already said there was no mandate about it. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
  4. Williams, arguably the best ever, was a dead pull hitter.
  5. I see some concerning signs in there as well. I definitely think we should add a good reliever.
  6. Now you've done it LOL The consensus seems to be that most hitters do not like messing with their swings. And wasn't it Ted Williams himself who was the first to be shifted on and the first to refuse to change anything? It looks easy from home, but unless you've tried it against major league pitching yourself, you don't really know.
  7. It was the snake of randomness that bit us for sure.
  8. Bloom is likely looking at guys who are more under the radar.
  9. And yet his FIP, his 3 true outcome ERA, is better than his ERA, and his fWAR is much better than his bWAR. I think Porcello was a guy who gave up a lot of contact and a lot of singles and doubles, and that was his biggest 'problem'.
  10. I have a lot of faith they will handle him wisely. And I hope they get as much as possible from him without jeopardizing his health.
  11. Cowfolk or Cowpersons it would have to be.
  12. Very cynical. I was referencing your point because I thought it was a good point. That was it.
  13. That's minutiae. I'm asking about the HR per 9 innings stat, which is kind of the bottom line number.
  14. 1.1 HR per 9 is "awful"? We're sure about this?
  15. He gave up 1.1 HR per 9 innings. Schilling, another strike thrower who gave up few walks, gave up 1.0 HR per 9 innings (and 1.1 in the AL.) So not much difference. Schilling obviously had better swing and miss stuff.
  16. Also, Red Sox generally hitters have their OPS+ trimmed because Fenway is a hitter's park. Although Raffy has a career 848 at Fenway and 853 on the road.
  17. Everyone goes after the 'low hanging fruit'. LOL
  18. I'm suggesting they get the most possible out of him this year while being careful with him. I have no doubt that's exactly what they're going to do. By your last sentence, I assume you mean I'm trying to catch you contradicting yourself. That was really not my intent. You believe that, right?
  19. Vaz is not getting a lot of off days this year. I have to assume that has something to do with Bloom and Cora liking the way he's handling the pitchers?
  20. Isn't he on the standard post TJ surgery timeline though?
  21. Taillon has been pitching well recently.
  22. How's this: the Washington Inclusives?
  23. But as you've pointed out, the 2021 team has a clear opportunity, and the future is always uncertain.
  24. He's a great player, but you have the same issues as with any prospective mega-deal.
