  1. We'd have to start tanking in absurd fashion to get another high draft pick. Use Sale as long as we still have a realistic shot at a Wild Card game. The Wild Card is far from ideal, but the 2014 Giants and 2019 Nationals have rings after being Wild Card teams.
  2. I thought the team actually showed a lot more life in these last 3 games against the Jays. Needless to say it sucks that we lost yesterday. Cora handed the ball to our best relievers and they didn't get it done.
  3. I'll lift the lid off the Box, but I'm not going to dig into it. CERA for whole staff: 2020 Vaz 5.23 Plaw 6.59 2021 Vaz 4.17 Plaw 4.93
  4. 30 points better, nonetheless.
  5. As Spudboy would say, quoting Bubbles on Trailer Park Boys: "Way she goes, boys, way she goes."
  6. JD was 4 for 5 today...
  7. Schwarber strikes me as a guy who wants to play. He missed all of 2016 except for the World Series, where he had a .971 OPS in 5 games.
  8. Quite possible that other teams were asking about Crawford and Bello at the deadline, and Bloom wouldn't give them up...
  9. a) Plawecki was out of action about a month. Plawecki is catching his 4th game in August today.
  10. Plawecki is sort of on fire LOL
  11. But why keep bringing up Pearce when we got Schwarber?
  12. You might see one of the shortest leashes ever with Richards today. The big question is who's first out of the pen. Valdez?
  13. I'm 100% fine with the COVID-19 rules. We are in the midst of a unspeakably devastating 18 month long pandemic, after all.
  14. Pivetta's ERA down to 4.34. Gives him 66 points of breathing room under 700hitter's 5.00 bar.
  15. 2 more potatoes (scoreless innings) for Whitlock yesterday, to lower his ERA to 1.17.
  16. Verdict on yesterday: when you score 1 run in regulation time in 2 games, consider yourself lucky to walk away with a split.
  17. Thanks, I had a feeling I might be missing someone.
  18. Gee whiz. For months management was accused of sitting on their hands with Duran. Jarren Duran 2021: Worcester 270/365/561 = 926 OPS Boston 176/204/353 = 557 OPS Isn't a little obvious that excellent AAA numbers often translate to lousy MLB numbers because the pitching is exponentially tougher? Other Worcester numbers: Santana 1.191 OPS Cordero .955 Chavis .801 We've called up Duran and now Arauz. Management knows what they're doing.
  19. Answer (drum roll please): Alfredo Aceves.
  20. Having JD and Duran out didn't help much. Going forward this year, if all healthy, we have the following hitters: Devers Bogey JDM Schwarber Verdugo Kike Arroyo Duran Vazquez/Plawecki All those guys on the lineup card and you have a decent offense.
  21. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you didn't think that much of Francona or Farrell either.
  22. He can be the next Singing Frog!
  23. However you look at it, this trade deadline is a PR disaster. The clichés about teams getting a lift from additions and getting down from no additions are playing out to the max, and Red Sox fans are not happy.
  24. If it was Henry putting the clamps on, I hope he's enjoying what he's seeing now.
