  1. Ownership is fine too, in my opinion. They seem to change course a lot, but keep spending and keep winning, in general.
  2. He won't stay at DH for long, presumably. JH needs to be the DH most of the time.
  3. Munoz will likely get his chance soon. Just as many others have this year.
  4. DD inherited payroll problems, and so did Bloom. We agree on that. Personally I find the blame game a tiresome one. Makes us sound pretty sour and ungrateful considering the great run we've had.
  5. Those would be very quick axes.
  6. Mid-range signing, but OK.
  7. Once again there is no mercy shown to those jettisoned for non-performance. Now that Marwin is gone, it's Cordero and Santana waiting for the next fall of the axe.
  8. Dombrowski made 2 big splash signings - Price and JDM. And JDM's price came in lower than initially expected. The narrative is false.
  9. A lot of the payroll inherited was dead money. And a lot of the increases were arb increases.
  10. OK. My answer would be that the sac fly was clutch and Schourek was clutch.
  11. I understand believing that. But it's speculation. I think Kimmi settles for a 50/50 on that one. By the same token, we know that DD wasn't hired to penny-pinch and future-build, so why does he get raked for what he did?
  12. High and low leverage are defined, that's why I thought they might be useful.
  13. It did seem like a good idea at the time. I only mention it again in the context of the silly 'Ben couldn't spend, but DD could spend as much as he wanted' argument.
  14. Personally I don't blame him. Just about everything he says gets used against him. How many times have we heard about how he reversed his position on the 'no pitchers over 30' thing? I think I read about it again here today!
  15. Isolated examples. I tried to present some objective large sample data in the opening post.
  16. Must we say it again? Cherington spent 350 million on Porcello, Hanley, Pablo and Rusney. He also signed the Pedroia extension. All those things impacted 2018 and 2019 too. And I think there's a possibility that the decision makers who replaced DD in Detroit did a lousy job. It's been a long time now.
  17. Yes he is. Dodgers went all in for sure. Personally I'm rather tickled they're 5 games behind the Giants.
  18. It was just an enticing rumor.
  19. The Dodgers blew away anyone else's possible offers. They also got Trea Turner, of course.
  20. I thought we agreed that had to be fiction. Of course, it's hypothetically possible they said if you can get Scherzer we'll go over, otherwise no.
  21. Hitters are more patient and managers are more hook-happy. I'd like to see these numbers for the Rays.
  22. mvp seems to think we should have been one or the other - serious buyers, or sellers. Not the wishy-washy in-between thing we sort of did.
  23. Dombrowski has 2 rings and I'm guessing he's fairly comfortable financially. Not the worst.
