  1. I can't help thinking if the Sox FO thought 365/12 with deferred money would do it, he'd still be with us.
  2. Yeah, if they don't bludgeon the Twins, we'll know they're really in trouble.
  3. I think he's kind of JD Drew-esque.
  4. No. 365/12 = 30.42 There were reports about the deferred money bringing down the AAV, but they were incorrect - there was no adjustment, apparently because the interest rates at the time were so low.
  5. Wacha has probably earned himself offers like 3 years for $35 million or thereabouts I'm guessing?
  6. Two corrections, Max: -The contract extension started in 2021, so it's only in the second year. -The average is $30.42, not $36.5.
  7. Bogey and Devers both have a higher OPS+ than 2021, because offense has declined across baseball this year. I would prefer to see OPS+ comparisons.
  8. Or move Raffy to first base. Somehow I don't think a dream infield of Devers, Story, Mayer and Bogaerts is a possibility in the real world though.
  9. The first thing I would say Nick, is that I don't think Bloom would tell Henry 2023 is the year to go all in to win a ring. But it's definitely a year to win 92+ games and have a chance at a ring. So we probably aren't making a run at deGrom. Maybe his old friend Syndergaard, though.
  10. Sorry jad. A SeaDogs game would be great, but the trip would probably cost me two grand Canadian. And my wife has that money and several thousand more earmarked for a kitchen upgrade.
  11. I think the real dilemma Larry is raising is about retaining Bogey.
  12. moon would trade Casas, Mayer and his (moon's) dog if it brought back a cost-controlled TOTR starter and something else of value.
  13. Oh yeah. Now I will say that I did want to sign Gausman, and McHugh not Diekman.
  14. If I could jump in the Way Back Machine: -Sign Gausman, McHugh, D. Robertson. -Cancel Renfroe trade, Paxton signing, Hill signing, Diekman signing. That would increase the payroll a bit is all.
  15. I think the Story signing has gotten somewhat of a bum rap because of his Colorado numbers. His road OPS was close to Bogey's. And Fenway is well suited to his swing.
  16. NCAA football brings out my grumpy side. It's semi-professional football sponsored by universities, with the richest universities fielding the best teams. Pretending that it's an amateur competition among student athletes is a joke.
  17. If Rangers catcher Jonah Heim married a woman named Anna, she'd be Anna Heim. Of course she'd probably stick with the maiden name.
  18. Gotta love Wong's line today. 3 walks! He's getting the Barry Bonds treatment. They're terrified of him.
  19. You're 100% results-oriented. That's fine, a lot of people are. But you don't want to hear about how are farm is improving, because we're in last place.
  20. No, Devers has the highest OPS+ of his career. That's what you should be using.
  21. Koji was very good in 2014. In 2015-17 he only pitched a total of 130 innings. Still a quality pitcher, but age starting to really show.
  22. Backs are tricky things.
  23. True. But all we remember is his conspicuous failures.
  24. On the other hand, how many long-term (5 years or more) reliable late inning relievers have the Red Sox had in their history? I can only think of two, really - Radatz and Papelbon. Koji was awesome in 2013, but returned to earth after that. Kimbrel gave us 3 very good years, but he wasn't very good for us in his postseason efforts.
