  1. Altuve is 0 for 23 in the postseason so far.
  2. Amusingly enough, Donaldson has K'd 5 times in 8 PA's in the series, but doubled and walked twice in the other 3 PA's, so he has an OBP of .375.
  3. At the same time, trading him in 2004 was one of the best moves in franchise history.
  4. Verlander did throw a ton of pitches the first couple of innings, but settled down the way aces do.
  5. German has a 6.23 ERA in a SSS 21.2 IP vs. the Stros, with 6 dingers allowed. I think Boone has good reason for being shy about him.
  6. Yeah, about freakin' time.
  7. No kidding.
  8. Many Red Sox fans detest him, and we all understand why, but Machado looks like he was actually worth a 10 year, $300 million contract.
  9. And Yankee fans blamed Boone for Game 2 and 3 losses.
  10. Congratulations, Yankee fans. You had to sweat that series out a bit. The ALCS could be a beauty.
  11. I'm afraid to do the math on the tax payroll after those moves...
  12. Yes, that's what the analytics guys say.
  13. Analytics guys say your fifth best hitter should bat third. Where's Kimmi?
  14. Bogey got his largest number of PA's in the 3 spot this year. If Cora believed in the analytics ordering thing, that should not have happened, right?
  15. The one and only reason the #3 spot got downgraded in importance is that the stats show that spot comes up with two outs and nobody on more than any other spot. And that would be mainly in the first inning, obviously. And it's easy to see that most managers don't really pay much attention to that.
  16. Jeez, nobody likes a guy who gets hit in the hand with a pitch...
  17. Of course, losing patience doesn't really cut it as a reason. The disappointing thing is that Bloom's biggest strength is supposed to be pitching.
  18. FanGraphs says his 2.4 fWAR was "worth" $18.9 mill based on average free agent cost per win. 3.8 fWAR would be "worth" about $30 mill.
  19. Sorry, 2.4 in 94 games.
  20. That's not the issue. The issue is basically that the Rays saw something we didn't.
  21. I'm guessing that's humanly impossible.
  22. What makes it harder to evaluate is that his season was derailed pretty badly by injuries. He had a 3.4 fWAR in 94 games, equivalent to 3.8 in 150 games.
  23. Perez is more of a WTF anomaly, because his previous seasons with Texas did not indicate he was capable of his 2022 season either.
  24. And the Padres let Snell face 23 batters in Game 3, and it worked...
