  1. Not a terrible comp at all.
  2. I like it. "Reported interest" has nuanced levels of non-confirmation and non-commitment.
  3. He might be off chasing whales again.
  4. What do we call 2021?
  5. The problem is it seems like you can't just trade a pile of junk for an ace any more, the way we did with Pedro and Schilling. Aces cost plenty in prospect talent now, as Seattle's trade for Castillo illustrates.
  6. But then you have to look at who is a better center fielder available for less than $10 mill. Anyway, the key to this team getting better is pitching. Bloom probably has to swing a trade for a starter, and sign a couple of relievers. He's got his work cut out, that's for sure.
  7. You make it sound like there are players who are guaranteed to be great next year, and those are the guys we should be signing.
  8. Yes, we all would.
  9. Hugh, it's a waste of time trying to engage this drive-by troll in a conversation.
  10. Yes, that was Daffy.
  11. Some of the moves you make aren't to get better, but to keep from getting worse.
  12. A Daffy Duck sighting...
  13. Riley had 3 arb years left when he signed. Devers now has only one. I think it's fair to use Riley's deal as a baseline and then adjust for the difference of 3 years buyout vs. 1.
  14. Judge does have much better rate numbers-OPS and OPS+. Devers's better counting numbers the last 4 seasons can be attributed to Judge missing so many games. That said, Devers's age advantage is huge, and his durability probably projects better as well. I would much rather extend Devers than sign Judge. Not even close.
  15. It looks like the Dodgers are going to go over the tax line for the third year in a row in 2023. Not that we have to follow another team's lead, but it's interesting that another team has decided it's worth it.
  16. You said "if they could get Bogey for 8 years".
  17. The fact is you do care, the same way we care.
  18. Pablo, Hanley and Castillo cost about a quarter billion in total, for a net productivity of roughly zero.
  19. Could do both.
  20. I hope Eovaldi takes the QO. Risky as heck but so are most pricey pitchers.
  21. Right on.
  22. Our payroll crunch is tied to our talent shortage.
  23. It's hard to succeed no matter what you do. The Dodgers have been spending big and kicking ass in the regular season, but only have one ring to show for it, in a COVID-shortened season. The Mets broke the bank this year and won one playoff game. The Astros look like the best run team right now. But they went and ditched their HOBO for some reason.
