    The only that that's revealed, or confirmed, here about the Bogaerts signing is that the report that the Red Sox were making progress on a deal with him was total fiction. Some speculate it was used to drive up the price, but who the heck knows. We've already seen Heyman's faux pas about Judge being signed by the Giants, which was a bigger deal.

    I think it's also quite possible that Devers becomes disenchanted with the process of dealing with the Sox front office, and the state of the team, and just breaks off negotiations, knowing he's in line for a huge payday after 2023.

    Maybe Henry was scared Bogey might actually consider an offer that was within 50 million or so of the best offer, so he made sure to be ridiculously short. Plus it was good for some laughs all over the sports world.

    It's an irrelevant question. The Sox offer was 57.9% of the Padres offer.

    We won 78 and Detroit won 66. They got a higher draft pick. We're not so different!

    It really seems like the Sox FO misread where prices were going. Which is a plain and simple failure and casts more doubt on their acumen as it currently stands.

    Please understand, my complaints about Betts are not with Bloom, they're with Krampus.

    Schwarber can't field at all, or run. He hit .218. He struck out 200 times. He's not without obvious deficiencies. Would I like him as our DH in 2023? Hell yes. His power and his walks make him a big asset on O.

    Before the season? No. The offer before the season was tacking on 1 year and $30 mill.

    I think Bloom did OK on the trade, but that's not the point. Betts has an AAV of $29 mill (they finally adjusted for the deferred money), and he had an fWAR of 6.6 this year. I think the Dodgers are more than happy with the swap of Dugo for Betts.

    That amount would have been what their final offer was - 6 * $27. The talk is that would have done it, that Xander wanted to get paid similarly to what Story got. As with so many things, we'll never know now.
