  1. Schreiber is one we shouldn't trade, he's under control through 2026.
  2. I'm sure our awesome coaches will help him figure it out.
  3. I'm rarely this pessimistic this early. But this team is awful. Shame on Henry and Bloom for this miserable offseason they just pulled off. Time for Henry to sell the team.
  4. How about opponent OPS when McGuire is catching? 2022 .874 2023 .883 That's unbelievable. Maybe the guy is making some extra dough tipping off hitters what pitches are coming.
  5. Nothing to do with the 2022 number though. Let Wong catch Sale. It's one of the few things I can think of that might result in improvement. I'm a desperate Sox fan right now, admittedly.
  6. Reese McGuire CERA: 2022 6.33 2023 6.20 It's almost funny.
  7. The season is in its infancy, but we know that some teams have no chance. The Red Sox are not a team with no chance, but they have far more question marks than the Yanks/Rays/Jays, who all just happened to pound us last year. We can be thankful we don't have to play those teams 19 times any more. The Jays made what looks to have been a very helpful trade for Varsho, although they did give up a top catching prospect.
  8. Pitcher-catcher pairings first 12 games: Kluber-McGuire Sale-McGuire Houck-Wong Crawford-Wong Pivetta-McGuire Kluber-Wong Sale-McGuire Houck-Wong Crawford-Wong Pivetta-Wong Whitlock-Wong Sale-McGuire Wong started 4 in a row.
  9. Pairing him up with a pitcher?
  10. Kike has been moved to the bottom of the lineup at least.
  11. Kike got the nudge downstairs I see.
  12. I can't see it as a good thing that notin's Paul DeJong man-crush has resurfaced.
  13. Not the "p" word!
  14. I can relate to that spirit right now.
  15. Maybe they need to let Tapia get more AB's.
  16. Yeah, good point. Maybe that's exactly what Cora is doing to start out with. Which is what moon suggested he might do.
  17. We all have high hopes for Yoshida and Casas, but as of now they're unproven. And Turner has been a solid major league hitter, but aging out is the concern. Kike? Who knows. Arroyo? Who knows. So many question marks.
  18. One early surprise is that Wong is getting more starts than McGuire.
  19. Not sure how you can feel so confident about that. I'm not worried about Devers, but I can't say there's anyone else on the roster I don't have doubts about.
  20. Why paying double-one for home and one for work?
  21. I haven't felt this down about a Sox team for a long time. It is good to see that others are keeping their chins up. I just think this team has been very poorly constructed by Bloom. And injuries like Duvall's are nails in the coffin.
  22. The Sox proved last year you can have the worst of both worlds - exceed the tax threshold and finish under .500.
  23. Realistically, we should be happy to win one of the next two.
