  1. For some reason they don't count all the pitches in spring game box scores. I'm sure Nick has the right numbers.
  2. Forbes shows the Mets 2021 gross revenue as $302 million, with an operating loss of $96 million. https://www.forbes.com/mlb-valuations/list/#tab:overall If someone has a better source than Forbes, let's see it.
  3. The $346 million doesn't include the estimated tax of $100 million.
  4. Right, but how can you compare to other sports that do have a salary cap?
  5. You know better than that.
  6. How does it stick out like a sore thumb in baseball, exactly?
  7. It will take several years to know. Does the spending pay off in a championship or two? Does it put the Mets in tax hell in a few years? Does Cohen suddenly realize he's made a big mistake and sell the team?
  8. Sounds to me like the guy is a little too honest!
  9. It's very early to say whether Cohen has done a good thing or a bad thing...
  10. I undrstand. But Henry is not wrong to think that when you do try to explain yourself to the media and fans, they usually throw it back in your face. Tampa Bay North!
  11. Yep. Like the poor guy at the Indy 500 who got killed by a tire that flew over the fence into the stands.
  12. So that's the answer to the question I've been asking.
  13. He took some questions by e-mail from Jen McCaffrey at The Athletic. And he went on a pretty big spiel about how the Red Sox fans were one of the biggest reasons he wanted to own the team in the first place. Now you may say that was just BS, but if we won't take him at his word, what are we supposed to go on?
  14. I'm quite sure Henry wants to win more championships. He doesn't need the money any more. He's just trying to be The Smart Guy Who Wins Championships and Also Keeps the Budget Balanced.
  15. I have respect for both of them. It's not always easy making business decisions that you know fans will hate.
  16. We've seen parts of broken bats fly a pretty good distance before, though.
  17. It's too early to make a judgment on any of them, I would think.
  18. This is all an educational experience for me. All I'm really getting at is that if the Red Sox might be hoping to get Song back from the Phillies rather than make a trade for him.
  19. I still don't understand. How do the Phillies "just try to keep him"? Is it that if no deal can be worked out the Phillies are forced to keep him on the 26?
  20. Getting back to Noah Song, my question, which I asked earlier but may not have phrased very well is this: Let's say the Phillies try to make a trade with the Red Sox for Song but the Red Sox aren't satisfied with what's offered. What's the next step in the process?
  21. And Brasier is pitching decently.
  22. Bello throwing 2 good innings today is great news.
  23. Yes, but you have thought the same about Brasier.
  24. Relax, Larry. You're really worked up today.
  25. Kutter and Winks both pitched well today.
