  1. Which day off before the All Star break do you mean?
  2. Well, he's still fattening his wallet.
  3. Because random something something...
  4. JD...hmmm....134 OPS+, 33 HR, 103 RBI in 113 G...looks like Big Bopper level there...issues are age/durability.
  5. Felipe had a career average of 1.0 bWAR per 162 games. He was halfway between replacement and average.
  6. 2.0 is roughly average for a player who plays about 150 games? Something like that. It's real math.
  7. Timlin and Embree too.
  8. Depends on how much the Angels would be willing to digest, of course.
  9. We can't forget that WAR is a counting measure, not a rate measure. A 2.0 WAR is about average - but only for a full time player.
  10. Remind me who had the higher OPS this year - Duvall, also a swhisher, or Yoshida, Mr. Contact?
  11. Verdugo had an OPS+ of 100. Offensively, that's as average as you can get. Is his defense that much better than average?
  12. I will offer a modern apology for this: "That's not me. I'm better than that."
  13. The amazing thing is the Rangers lost DeGrom and Scherzer to injury. Montgomery and Eovaldi really stepping up.
  14. Part of why Bloom is no longer with us.
  15. Other starting pitchers of interest today for Sox fans, as looming free agents: Sonny Gray, Aaron Nola.
  16. Rangers up 7-1 on Rays after 7. If the Rays lose, they will have lost 9 of their last 10 postseason games. Pitchers of record were subjects of much discussion by Sox fans, as guys we "almost signed" this offseason - Eovaldi and Eflin.
  17. If the Rays lose this, they will have lost 9 of their last 10 postseason games.
  18. I like Eovaldi a lot. Definitely like to see him beat the Rays. Rangers now up 4-0.
  19. How is Chapman bad? He had a 3.5 fWAR this year, and that was the lowest for a full season in his career.
  20. Maybe you can explain how.
  21. A tiny positive fWAR for a regular still sucks, though. Do you agree?
  22. I'm good with either. It was notin who seemed to be thrown a little by JBJ's positive fWAR in 2014. Just trying to help him.
  23. You're right, he's a great example of huge defensive value trumping weak offense. For his career, per FanGraphs, he was -69.4 RAR on offense, and a crazy 375.3 RAR on defense. Career fWAR of 67.6.
