  1. This one is probably a done deal.
  2. 21 home runs allowed in 63.1 innings has to make him a contendah at least...
  3. Giolito is a guy who takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'..
  4. The real concern is how much authority Breslow has. With the Dodgers, you can be pretty damn sure Friedman has a whole pile of authority.
  5. It's happening everywhere so it can't be bad. You're entitled to think that, Hugh. I'm entitled not to buy into it.
  6. You just have to wonder if this is where all the apparent dithering is coming from. Maybe it wasn't just Bloom. Maybe Breslow is being put in the same position.
  7. His FIP with the White Sox was 4.43 last year. Coincidentally he has a career ERA of 4.43 and a career FIP of 4.44. Yes, he has pitched well for stretches, I know. But he could be a disaster, and no one will be shocked.
  8. Unfortunately you can say that about our entire rotation.
  9. I'm immensely reassured.
  10. OK, I shouldn't have dissed Toboni. But this just feeds the impressions that the Sox have gotten bloated in the front office and Breslow doesn't have much control and that it's no wonder so few were interested in Breslow's job... And that it might have something to do with the ongoing suckitude we're seeing.
  11. This move has downside too. Giolito was one of the worst pitchers in history at the end of last season. Will anyone be shocked if he turns out to be another Kluber?
  12. And what does all this top talent do, exactly?
  13. Somebody needs to explain to me what possible purpose is served by having 4 assistant GM's.
  14. Some guy in the Boston Globe comments section wondered if Breslow himself has an opt-out in his contract. Silly but I had to smile.
  15. You can give up 6 runs and win, you can give up 1 run and lose. You'd think that alone would settle the debate.
  16. LOL yes, that explanation makes as much sense as any. They finally got really tired of all the tie votes! Now things are gonna get rolling full throttle at last.
  17. Wonderful. We're not a real baseball team any more, but we're here for guys who need to rebuild their value.
  18. In the "you can't make this s*** up" department, on the same day the Sox miss out on another starting pitcher, they promote a guy named Paul Toboni to be yet another assistant general manager. They now have 4 f***ing assistant general managers. You really can't make this up.
  19. So now we know: Bloom was fired because he was too bold!
  20. Last minute panic signing, maybe?
  21. Fell short again, on Imanaga. The Ballad of Lowball Johnny just keeps playin'...
  22. Imanaga signs with Cubs. Quelle surprise. Sham!
  23. The eye test thing makes me chuckle. For one thing, most MLB games I've seen in person, I was too far from the field to have anything but a rough idea of what just happened on that play. Thank God for replays on giant video screens! The other thing is, there's obvious stuff, like a ball going through the wickets or a throw that ends up in the dugout. Pretty hard for anybody to miss. There's also stuff that only a trained eye would notice.
  24. Specific BTV trades that people post don't usually happen, but at least it gives you a rough idea of what we'd have to give up to make one of those trades for a young starting pitcher that everyone likes to dream about.
  25. I'll take whatever's goin' at this point. Because the Invisible Man is still in play with this front office.
