    The twists of fate that postseason were incredible. Lowe had basically been booted from the rotation entering the playoffs. For once the twists all went the Red Sox way.

    Breslow deserves much love for this theft from the Yanks. And although Narvaez's numbers had a skid there, he's having a very solid season with the bat by catcher standards.

    "Looking ready on Day One" is a pretty shaky concept.

    All depends on what criteria we use. Lowe had a terrible season in 2004 but redeemed himself in the playoffs. If he didn't have a great playoffs, you probably wouldn't be rating him that highly here.

    OK, but now look at the 4-5 pitchers on our 4 title winning teams. Buehler and May probably stack up pretty well against them.

    It's not ideal, no, but I think most rotations have a couple guys like that.

    This thread is just another catchall trainwreck so far. Which is fine. May stepped up last night, so good for him and good for Breslow. Hopefully this trade pays off. I wasn't excited when I heard about it, but I don't think it was a panic move. I have a bit of faith in Breslow.

    Have to remember he just turned 21. It can take a few years for the home runs to start coming. The first time Yaz hit 20 HR was his age 25 season.

    Pitchers are winning the battle. MLB teams are scoring 4.4 runs a game in spite of recent rule changes that should have increased scoring, like eliminating the shift and making the bases bigger. Plus clamping down on the sticky stuff. And the new extra inning rule results in more extra inning runs. Not sure if the baseballs are juiced now or not.

    There seems to be an advantage, but I'm not really sure what the explanation for it is. It would be interesting to see how extensive this advantage has been since the change.

    They didn't re-sign Pedro Martinez either. Or Jason Bay. Or Ellsbury. Why are you leaving out the guys who did crappy after we let them go? The answer is pretty obvious. For the record I abhorred the Betts trade but I liked the Devers trade. Completely different situations IMHO. One size doesn't fit all.

    Calling someone a racist is a serious charge. Explain why Cora is a racist, providing your evidence. Otherwise, don't say it again.

    Yeah, Cap'n Obvious was right about the pitch count, but the part about the bullpen came back to haunt him.

    Can you explain how Cora's "favoritism" toward Anthony and "non-favoritism" toward Duran and Rafaela is evidence of his racism?

    Henry and the front office deserve a lot of credit just for the long term deals with Crochet, Anthony, Rafaela, Bello and Campbell IMHO.
