  1. Yoshida had 2 huge hits against the Yanks in July, that helps to boost his cred. The game tying homer was the real deal, long AB, fouled off some tough pitches, got one he liked and crushed it. That was good stuff.
  2. Gagne was acquired to be "supporting closer" to Papelbon or something like that. Sox fans are amazing in that they still grouse about that trade even though the Sox won their second ring in 4 years.
  3. Me, no doubt, at least from the point we realized he was a DH and Bloom had signed 2 DH's.
  4. It has to be done a lot, I would never say otherwise. And if we're starting up the Richards/Kluber thing again, I'm game.
  5. Some of them definitely work out. That's why CBO's never stop diving.
  6. Agree. Seattle was obviously down to the dregs of their pen, but it seems like they should have brought in a righty instead and walked Devers. Because Refsnyder really does kill lefties.
  7. There always seems to be an outlier bargain or two, kind of inexplicable.
  8. Yes, it's all moot, so we should only have a couple dozen more posts about it.
  9. A great memory for him.
  10. Unfortunately, we're also having serious starting pitching issues of late.
  11. We were 56-50 last year and we're 56-50 this year.
  12. We've given up 7 runs or more in 9 of the last 10. We had a shutout in the other game. Some might find it odd that the starting pitcher in that game got moved to the bullpen and mopped up last night. Thinking outside the box, I guess.
  13. Seems like a decent effort by Craig.
  14. Yes, but that's like saying a kick in the stomach is better than a kick in the head. 2024 bWARs Paxton 0.4 Jansen 0.9 Priester -0.4 Total 0.9
  15. But if that's it, it will be uncomfortably close to Bloom-like.
  16. But several of those losses can be attributed to the bullpen issues that he should be trying to address... Plus they are still tied in the loss column with KC for the final WC spot.
  17. If Breslow does nothing more, it's gonna look an awful lot like 2022 and 2023.
  18. Agreed, but it might be a busy day. They're connected to a lot of pitchers, hopefully it's not just more Interest Kings follies.
  19. My bet is we're not selling anything of value. This team has had more than enough PR f***ups and mixed messages. They don't need Pivetta dealing for another team the next two months while Houck has to go on the IL. We'll check back on my "wisdom" at 6 PM.
  20. He just may have arrived.
  21. Craig can't do that, not at this point. He'd look worse than Bloom did the last two years, because it would be a flip-flop on what he's been saying and reportedly trying to do, which is add pitching.
  22. Prospect for prospect in this case.
  23. Sox trade Nick Yorke to Pittsburgh for pitcher Quinn Priester.
  24. I think the pitching will bounce back some. There are always going to be rough stretches. Need a couple of adds and Martin and Slaten to return.
  25. Too late man, we're already in the buy lane, if we cross over to the sell lane now there's going to be a pile-up.
