Fred doesn't have any insight into this that the rest of us don't have. Fred also pronounced Ortiz cooked back when he had his big slump. This is not promising news on Bard to say the least. Can only hope he rediscovers it somehow.
-
Angels also losing.
-
Good job Aviles.

Not when Salty catches.
-
Exemplary performance by Cook, in spite of Youk and Salty.
-
Same thing happened last year. When he gets cold it's seriously ugly.
-
He had selfish reasons to be motivated if nothing else.
-
That's the Salty problem isn't it? He loses strikes that other catchers are getting.

Brutal...good thing Axelrod's on a low pitch count, I guess.
-
s***, Floyd isn't pitching but we're turning Axelrod into Floyd.
-
Some of it has to be an adrenaline rush or something...it's not the first time a guy has suddenly turned it on after getting traded.
-
Score some runs please.
-
He had 165 PA's. They put Gonzalez in RF for a bunch of games. They tried.
-
One small consolation - when Fisk played for the WS it was a balanced schedule and the RS played the WS 12-13 times a season. Now they play each other 6-8 times a season.

The Red Sox are catching a heck of a break with the pitching for the White Sox in this series. The White Sox have a lot of injuries to starters right now. Gavin Floyd was originally scheduled to pitch against us tonight and he owns us. Let's capitalize on this break.

The Lowrie for Melancon trade is looking a little better. Lowrie had been slumping for about a month and is now on the DL with what could be a significant injury. Melancon has been excellent since being recalled, giving up 1 run and 10 baserunners in 15.1 innings.
-
Well, we certainly needed that win.
-
A home run and two walks today. Crawford comes back tomorrow. I would still hate to see Nava get traded. I have to admit, part of the reason for that is that I find him so likeable.
-
Nice job Melancon.
-
Beckett's track record with us is pretty erratic though.
-
I hear you. First inning and we've already made our first gaffe.
-
Alright Nava. I think he is going to have a good game today.

I had stopped paying attention to the CERA numbers for a while, but last night Remy mentioned that we were 18-10 in Shoppach's starts and that got my attention again. The won-lost records for the catchers (games they started) the past 2 years are mind-boggling. Salty 73-82 Varitek 42-22 Shoppach 18-11 VTek + Shopp 60-33
