  1. My feeling is that a lot of things are possible but some are so unrealistic that they aren't worthy of consideration.
  2. Yankees really took full advantage of the domestic violence discount on Chapman.
  3. I am dubious that Pom and E-Rod will make Price look like our 5th starter.
  4. mvp keeps saying they'll pick up Buch's option for next year, because he's still pissed off they picked up the option for this year.
  5. I'm just agreeing with you...I'd hate to see it.
  6. Nobody wants to trade Betts.
  7. As they each have throughout their careers, right?
  8. I figured the reason Buch was on the roster was as the #6 starter who would be called on again if E-Rod flopped on his return.
  9. Yeah, he's been great, thank God.
  10. He can't do much about the pitching shitstorm this weekend.
  11. Farrell ain't getting much help from his pitchers.
  12. The thing with Ross in June was weird. That's the type of thing the Sox beat reporters should be on. But it was crickets.
  13. Rusty would be my term.
  14. That idea is certainly not without merit. But Buch has hardly pitched in July so I can understand the short leash. You could make arguments either way on it IMHO.
  15. feeling more confidence about Barnes getting Mauer out than Porcello doing it at this point in time?
  16. As Mike Tyson put it, 'Everybody's got a game plan till they get hit in the mouth.'
  17. I understand what you're saying, but there's something innately confusing when you have 2 rating systems that can produce such widely diverging values.
  18. We'll see about Pom. He got off to a wee bit of a wobbly start himself...sigh.
  19. The last guy to avoid this syndrome - and he did so in a pretty big way - was Schilling.
  20. Price's bWAR is 1.5, which seems realistic. So can we say that bWAR for pitchers is more reliable than fWAR?
  21. You can make the same argument about a blockbuster trade for a guy like Sale. That could blow up in your face the same way. The only difference is that your losses are in talent, not dollars.
  22. Not to mention, the pitch before the triple could easily have been Strike 3 and the end of the inning. It was a borderline pitch, so I'm not going to rip the ump for it, but some umps would definitely have called it a strike.
  23. Mind-boggling facts: Our #1 starter, statistically, is Wright. Our maximum financial commitment to him is $514,500. Our #3 starter, statistically, is Price. Our maximum financial commitment to him is $217,000,000.
