  1. LOL If you really wanted to tackle this, I suppose you could start by looking at recent World Series champs and identifying who the 'tough guys' were and what they did to show their toughness... Best of luck.
  2. Can't please everybody, that's for sure. What some people who just pop in here don't realize is that we have beaten to death just about every possible Red Sox topic there is here, it's just that it's done in a handful of threads.
  3. Sale was at 102 pitches after 8, but if a couple of Jays batters got on or had long at-bats, he might have ended up at 125 pitches.
  4. The errors are a big concern but I'm surprised you're making anything out of a .224 BA in such a small sample.
  5. Yeah, when I type Lucchino it's because I'm too lazy to type Lucchino and/or Werner.
  6. You and your son were both wrong - the hit was pure randomness.
  7. Are you Nick Cafardo?
  8. Henry and Lucchino had a quick change of philosophy after finishing last in 2014.
  9. A classic damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. If Farrell puts Sale back out there and things go wrong you know exactly what the talk would be. Why the f*** didn't Farrell save Sale the wear and tear and give the ball to Kimbrel? Kimbrel's been lights out. f***ing managerial moron.
  10. Letting people start a new thread for every thought that occurs to them doth not make a good Red Sox board.
  11. The BDC site was a mess. This one is much better. And as you've obviously noticed, you can use bad language here. :-)
  12. No, it's not an exact science, and it can never be an exact science, you just have to accept that. But you have nothing better and you have no way of showing exactly how or by how much WAR is inaccurate, so you're not bringing much to the table.
  13. Oh, that's a much better analogy. There are no consequences to you or I of WAR not 'operating properly', even if you could demonstrate that it's not 'operating properly', which you can't.
  14. WAR is an attempt at coming up with a comprehensive measurement of a player's value. It's not perfect because there are in fact a lot of variables involved. Anyone who thinks they can do better is more than welcome to do so. Or you can stick with batting averages and fielding percentages.
  15. One of the sickest stories ever. This is a guy that could have Super Bowl rings.
  16. Thanks Kimmi, that was some really good clarification, seriously.
  17. Sure it is. They couldn't be much more up-front about it, could they?
  18. You just made that up.
  19. WAR is a piece of cake compared to tax rules and a lot of the other BS we deal with. JBJ had a 5.3 WAR last year because WAR rewards him for being good on both sides of the ball. That's a big step forward right there...
  20. The problem is that in today's market the 4 B's are all potential 20 to 30 million dollar a year guys when they hit free agency. That's 100 million a year to sign them all. That's half of your budget without even getting started on a pitching staff.
  21. It's about positional needs too, though. There's a strong possibility they won't be able to keep Bogaerts either.
  22. There are some other little tweaks.
  23. I'm going to hate like hell to see JBJ traded too. But economically it probably has to be done. Hopefully they get a starting pitcher back...
  24. What does Bogaerts have to do with the comment about the outfielders though?
  25. Small sample size fun in the early going...Moreland and Mookie both got off to what seemed like awful starts, now one's hitting .358 and the other .356.
