  1. Santana. His only bad game this year was against us. Not that it really means much.
  2. You keep forgetting you're not in BDC anymore, man. We don't even have dozens of posters here LOL
  3. FanGraphs says Kimbrel has already delivered $9.5 million of value this year. That's pretty good on May 14.
  4. Here are some numbers on unearned runs: To date there have been 418 unearned runs allowed by all teams this year, or an average of 14 per team. The Red Sox have allowed 16, so a little worse than average. The Cubs (ha) have allowed the most, 25. The Orioles and the Angels have allowed the fewest, 4.
  5. I sincerely doubt anyone keeps track of that. But if you scroll through pitcher game logs you can see the games in which they gave up unearned runs pretty easily. So this could be done manually. Or you could try your luck with an e-mail to Alex Speier about it...
  6. Smith and Thornburg definitely earn a 'Thanks Dave!'
  7. Better than Mookie?
  8. Kimbrel has been used in some of those difficult spots lately, which is good to see.
  9. As much rope as it takes to carry him to his next trip to the DL, I'd say.
  10. What was Pomeranz's projected WAR when we acquired him? What is Beltre's projected WAR now? Aren't those the relevant numbers?
  11. Oh, I don't doubt that. But I do think players have gotten pretty freaking greedy in their own right.
  12. Players hire agents to take care of that, and they don't hire Boras because he's a nice guy.
  13. Here are the team leaders in grounding into DP's: Benintendi 6 Moreland 5 Hanley 5 Betts 4 Vazquez 4 Pedroia 3 Bogaerts 3 Bradley 3
  14. I liked Arroyo too. I disliked that trade too. But the guy has made over $80 million in his career as a perfectly average pitcher, so I don't think he really needs my sympathy.
  15. Players are money grubbing fiends, agents are money grubbing fiends, they're all money grubbing fiends.
  16. Since Farrell put Mookie at leadoff we've scored the following runs: 11 17 7 4 4 4
  17. So what's your preferred lineup 1-4?
  18. I think a lot of the value of an elite closer shows up in the postseason. And that's the ultimate goal, after all. Theo was certainly willing to pay plenty for a rental of Chapman.
  19. It's not a good sign if we keep saying 'When this player and that player get healthy, we'll be really good.'
  20. No doubt you're right, harmony. We're sort of grasping at straws here.
  21. Robot umps, Kimmi, it's the only answer. Some of these guys are terrible. And they're supposedly the best.
